Vander's Human Physiology
D**S
For all KCL Students or First Year Science students in general...
I was sceptical to say the least about this textbook after picking up some other "recommended" textbooks on my first year reading list. However, during my revision for May exams I was struggling to grasp and fully understand some concepts. Seeing this, a friend recommended I go and look up this book on our library, and I was blown away. It's been helpful before belief and I went online and brought a copy straight away (it's a good, popular book, don't expect to be able to borrow this from the library for longer then a day!). It's so important that you completely understand the basics for second year modules based of this (neuroscience for example). If you want to get it, buy early in the term and make constant use out of it. Physiology is not a subject to take lightly and is arguably one of the hardest modules on the CYO programme. However armed with this book you should fly through your summer exams!

Good Physiology book
,Great book, used it all though med school. Always look what's in your uni library before buying as some people didn't like the layout/ writing in this book and preferred various others. But this is a good al round book in my opinionr. explains physiology but also makes clinical links.

Excellent textbook. But don't buy it from Amazon if you would like it in less than 2 months.
When I eventually got my Vander's Human Physiology (11th Ed.) from McGraw-Hill, I can say I was thoroughly pleased with the depth and style of writing from Widmaier et al. Diagrams are easy to understand and the book maintains fluidity as a whole. It is definitely recommended for 1st/ 2nd year Med students. The HIGHLY unsatisfactory part of my dealing with Amazon was the wait of TWO MONTHS for this textbook. Had I been told the ACTUAL estimated date of dispatch I would have cancelled right away. 5 times I was re-advised on the dispatch date and delivery date. I normally very few problems with Amazon's delivery speeds but I have definitely been let down this time.

Upon receiving the book
The book was in good condition and was delivered on time. Extremely happy with the purchase and the whole procedure, therefore no complaints are to be made.

Excellent text book
I am a medical student and I find this text book excellent. The text gives very clear explanations of physiological principals and the science is illustrated with clinical examples. The diagrams aid understanding and I feel it is in the right amount of depth for medical students. Highly recommended.

Not as expected
I did not expect the book to be as large as it was and therefore it was not easy to carry around. The front cover and pages were of poor quality.

Brilliant, but only to a point.
I bought this book on the recommendation of my university for the first year of a physiology based course. The first thing I have to say is that it's very good. It gives you what you need in a readable style with diagrams that make understanding the processes that much simpler. To me it also managed to gain a feel of an easyish a level book, but with degree level content. So for first years doing any physiology related course, or someone who just wants to gain an understanding above their 'a-level' grade biology, I would definitely recommend this book. However, and for me this is a big however, being at the end of my first year now, I have seemed to have learnt almost everything in the book. What does this mean? This means that if you are in university and what to read further into the subject, you either have to borrow from the library, or buy another book that's either more specialised, or a reference. And considering the prices that.s not always an option. So:It's a great book, readable, with enough content to get you through first year physiology.but for subsequent years, you will most likely have to make a new purchase.

vanders 10th edition
I own the 10th edition of this book which I found incredibly hard to digest, and I've heard similar reports about this edition from my class mates. Although the book has got all the info required for a introduction to human phsyiology, I found I needed to re-read pages several times before I could understand them. Perhaps it is more suited to medicine students than to sport and exercise science
