Dorman 924-713 Ignition Lock Housing Compatible with Select Models

Great fit works perfect on 99’ gmc sierra 1500

I had to replace this housing, the ignition cylinder, and the door lock due to theft attempt. I might have read the instructions wrong, but it said to remove the yellow shipping plug before installing. However, I had to put the plug back in to install the park lock cable. Other than that, it was fairly simple replacement. It looks exactly like the original housing from the factory with the exception of the Dorman part number in the casting. I relied more on YT videos than the instructions that came in the box.

Fitment was great. Kind of a pain to replace on my 04 yukon but got it done. I did have to run through the procedure to relearn the keys but pretty easy.

I have had this Dorman Ignition Lock on for a couple of months. I will know more with time. It is working great for now.

Great product, save me money by doing it myself know issue with the part. My ignition lock cylinder housing replacement works great easy installation.

The part appears to be of good quality, and it has worked well since installation a few weeks ago. The product sheets did not include '99 Chevy Silverado, but in fact it did fit my '99 Silverado, replacing the worn OEM part. Retraining the new part takes 2 or 3 retries of 'attempt to start, then leave in the on position until the security light stops flashing.' Possibly include 'fully remove and re-insert the key' for each attempt.' I was finally successful in retraining the part to the key when I finally tried removing and re-inserting the key on my third pass at waiting 10 minutes for the security light to stop flashing.

I put this in my 2005 Cadillac EXT and it's an identical replacement item in fit and quality. Comes with a plastic plug in the keyway that has no instructions for an easy way to remove it. But a little brute force and ignorance and all is good.

It was just the housing itself. Still need it but thought I was getting everything I needed. Not happy with the way it was advertised.
