Please read this first: Replaced two broken headsets, headset is poor quality
For Christmas I ordered my brother (whom is an incredible audio and music fanatic) the Beyerdynamic MMX 300 as I had heard it was one of the best audiophile and gaming headsets from some reputable sources - the specs and reviews looked phenomenal and I happily ordered a pair off Amazon. Days after gifting this I received a call that he was unable to get the microphone working on his phone, laptop, and desktop whatsoever, using the included cables as well as an A/O - USB adapter cable. I drove over an hour to his house to troubleshoot it and couldn't figure out an obvious answer so I took it home to further troubleshoot. I found that no device was able to receive anything aside from extreme static from the microphone which was absolutely unusable. I tried quite literally everything I could think of, disabling and re-enabling the microphone and headset, used different cables, different ports, various I/O adapters, I tried different OS's in VMs (Linux / Windows 7,10,11), updated and reinstalled drivers, I tried about five different physical devices and eventually I found that this is potentially a "Common issue with the headset". As found on Reddit I pushed as hard as I could into the receiving jack on the headset and tried to apply a rotary twist to plug it in but STILL found the static / unusable microphone. After troubleshooting this headset for over a WEEK I finally decided that this headset or microphone is most likely broken, so I requested a return & replacement from Amazon.I sent it off to Amazon and waited nearly two weeks before receiving my replacement (today). I happily unboxed the new headset and plugged it in and found the exact same result as the last headset, I contacted Amazon and their product support I believe that the majority of consumers would return it immediately after plugging it in and the microphone not working. I would like to know what I'm doing wrong, at this point I've dumped at least 20 hours of my life into this headset and I genuinely just want it to work for my brother, I love to tinker but not when it leads to a dead-end. Needless to say I returned the headset to Amazon and bought an entirely different headset, most definitely the worst experience I’ve had with peripherals.

Do not buy used products from Amazon, decent headphones not worth the price.
I own a large collection of headphones and these were purchased because of online reviews and the addition of a built in microphone. They are decent closed backs with easy pad swaps and a somewhat pleasant frequency curve. I used them for gaming and with no stock pads or driver cover and dekoni pads they are pretty postionally accurate without eq. With eq they are decent nothing special and for the price you can get open backs that do a better of a job or closed backs that are just as good. Beyer's own non-gaming headsets are just as good as these. Also DAC matters, if you run them on a gaming dac at 48k they wont sound better than an average gaming headset. The build quality is not great, I had a right drive blow out from use after less than a month. I bought them used from Amazon (directly from amazon) and I would not recommend you do the same. I have bought many pairs of used headphones before and at least when you buy them from someone they let you know the condition and you have a fair understanding of their use, but with Amazon they seem to just repackage whatever they get returned and say they are fine. To be fair I should have known something was up from day one but it was about 30 days in that the driver failure was clear. They seem cheaply built, the driver is glued in place with a paper covering, the shells are plastic, the yokes seem fine but the housing feels weak, the PADS ARE TERRIBLE, overall not worth the cost from a build standpoint. The microphone is nothing special.Would I buy these again, no. Even new I think these are not worth the cost for the sound they produce.Should you buy them?If you want a headset for gaming and you dont mind open back, buy the PC38X.If you dont need a mic there are so many headsets cheaper than this that beat the sound OTB, and with EQ you can make almost any headphone sound good.AND REMEMBER DONT BUY USED OR RENEWED FROM AMAZON. Their "guarantee" just extends the manufactorer warranty as if you bought it new, but remember you have no idea how the previous person used their product and with headphones this cheaply made you could end up with a paperweight.

Great
The only thing that would make these better would be a wireless option, but I knew they were wired when I bought them. I have used these for 5 months now and have had no negative experiences with them. The sound quality is fantastic. I have the Audeze Mobius and the Sound is better with these headphones.
