Works great but there are some things to understand before first use
The first thing to do to get started is download an app from Google or Apple or other for the CamFi.Install the App.Next turn your CamFi Unit on and wait for the network light to stay on.Disconnect your pc, or phone, or Ipad from your local network and connect to the CAM NETWORK.Start the CAMFi app on your device. It will start and upgrade your firmware. Don't connect camera to CAMFi during firmware update.Stop the app.Next use your cable and connect camera to the CamFi.You will again need to connect to the CamFi Network in Network settings on your device; disconnecting from you normal network.Start the app on your device.Your camera should be turned on.You should see your camera settings on the app now.If you want to use the CamFi with your normal network, go to Settings / Connection and change it there. You must first get it all working with the CamFi Network before you change and save the network in the app on your device.I am personally using a Nikon D850 with my Windows 10 PC. I have also used it with my Android phone. No connection issues at all. I did not need to enable the WIFI settings on the D850. I did not need to change any settings on my camera.

Does exactly what I needed!
Ordered this as I wanted to try controlling my Canon 70d remotely. Setup was very easy and I love the stability of the connection. Haven't tried using it for time lapses yet. I know some complain about 6 hour battery life but I don't see it as an issue. Charged from my usb port on my MacBook in about an hour. The price was great, build construction fine and I don't get all wrapped up in details about what it's $300 dollar competition will do or what this won't do. It fills my requirements.Fun to experiment with and so far, no lag in responding to my changes in settings.Nice product.

CLEARLY USED AND MARKED AS NEW
I paced an order for a NEW remote. Payed full price.I received a remote loosely placed in an open box with clearly visible marks of USAGE.Paint is chipped on the corners, remote was still set on “ON”. Battery drained.Clearly fals advertised.Decided to keep it. 7 days after my return window closed..........IT STOPED WORKING!!!!!! What do I do now?!??!?!

Nice concept but....
I like the concept of the device and tried as hard I as could to use it and keep it. But for my Canon R5 it did not came with a cable. I need it a Micro HDMI. I tried to find one but it was getting to be a hazel. So I decided to return it. Hopefully in the future they could update the connections. or include the cables for newer cameras. If not make sure you have the right cables to use with the device.

Great way to connect your camera to your phone!
This thing is great! I have been wanting a way to connect my Canon 5D Mark II to my iphone and came across this. Pretty easy to set up though sometimes you may have to turn off your camera and turn it back on if the wifi doesn't connect. What's greatest about this, is that you can shoot in live mode from the phone and change all your settings like shutter speed, aperture, and ISO right there without even touching the camera! It does have a slight lag in live mode, but if you are shooting photos like this, it really isn't that much of an issue.Such a great buy!

Back to wired tethering
Wanted to love this and when it works, it is a good product but it consistently lags and disconnects where you have to shut the program down and start it up again. It really messes with the flow of a shoot when it does this and it does it regularly. Every 5 shots or so. Before anyone comments about the issues, I am using a brand new HP Spectre 360 SSD laptop which is super fast and runs flawlessly and I am shooting approximately 1 image every 10-20 seconds which is more than slow enough to transfer. Why can't there be a serious professional wireless option for tethering that isn't flawed in one way or another? Even the Camranger (with its ridiculously over priced price-range) does the same thing no matter which system, camera or laptop I have used it on.

it works wonderfully. No problems setting up and connecting
I just received my CamFi, and let me tell you, it works wonderfully. No problems setting up and connecting. Great speeds viewing RAW files and has a no-lag interface. My only request for this product is an exposure meter. I would love to see where my exposure needle sits when I'm away from the camera and on my device. Hopefully I'm just missing something.I've tried the homemade wifi remote with the TP-Link Router and a Galaxy Tab...worked great for a few minutes. Crashed, and then I got locked out of the router and it wouldn't recognize my password. Not wanting to spend hours troubleshooting a $30 router and not wanting to spend $300 on a CamRanger, I'm glad this came along!
