Solid and better than #1941 model
Pretty solid and of nicer quality than the competing #1941 model by a different company. Worked notably better on my window with thin frame, engaging without slip despite there being only a shallow amount of metal exposed to get purchase on.

Meh for aluminum window frames. Requires use of screwdriver to tighten. Replace after 100 uses.
I second the earlier review about "thin" window frames. I bought these for aluminum frame sliding windows. Most worked, but some could not be clamped tight enough to lock the window. The locks that did work, loosen the screw every time the lever was opened and closed. Tightening the screw with a screwdriver would help, but who keeps a screwdriver next to their windows? It's no fun when you are closing the windows before slipping into bed and realize you need to make a trip out to the garage for tools. After 100 or so uses, even tightening with a screwdriver no longer helps.I am on Amazon right now to find a replacement product for 6 of these things that have just wore out from normal use.

Good looking, easy push window lock
The chrome plated lever gives this a more finished look than the window locks with thumbscrews. And the lever is easy to push down-- no tools required. Pushing the lever clamps the unit to the window frame, blocking movement of the window. The thickness of my window frame is roughly 1/16 of an inch and the clamp holds well to it. I would estimate that the clamp will work with a window frame of about 1/16" min, up to 3/16" max. A pair of these clamps, one on either side of the window, would certainly make the window more difficult to force open from the outside. They might well deter the amateur thief, but not likely an intent professional. However I do feel they will add a level of safety and I am installing these locks on all of my sliding windows.

Not good for security, but does the job
This is a decent window lock if you live in a rental and don't want to screw anything in, but don't expect it to be good for security. The window can be pushed open with enough forced since the lock isn't bolted down.
