Excellence resource for home technicians!
Like most people, the washer and dryer I own are old. They've been sitting in the garage for 10 years or more and have reliably done their job, so they aren't items I ever really consider updating. The problem with older appliances (such as my Kenmore dryer) is that models change so frequently it's often difficult to find replacement parts. And when you do find them, they are very expensive.Case in point... The high temperature safety fuse failed on this dryer. After looking at Sears' recommended parts centers, calling some local appliances stores, and looking through the larger online appliance parts websites, the cheapest price I found for a replacement thermostat and safety was $70.For that price, I can just purchase a used dryer online and take my chances!By sheer dumb inspiration I decided to put the part numbers into Amazon just to see what happened... And they had the same parts for 1/10th the price! I've never thought of Amazon as a source for repair parts before --this is where I go to buy books, music, and gifts-- but this just earned them top spot in my "go to" list when I need anything. As a Prime member I had the parts within 48 hours, so I popped them into the dryer as soon as they arrived. For less than the cost of lunch at a fast food restaurant, I have a working dryer again! WooHoo!

It works in my Kenmore dryer and was easy and straightforward to install
Got it fast! It works in my Kenmore dryer and was easy and straightforward to install. Clothes are drying once again! Just plain awesome! Details- I have a kenmore 800 dryer. It's really easy to get to the heating element where these puppies are installed. You basically just pop off the bottom panel of the dryer and remove two screws to pull the heating element and housing out where these thermostats are installed. Just remember how the wires are attached (i snapped a few pics with my phone) and install these just like the old one. You can use an Ohm meter to test the old ones to see if they work (find a youtube video if needed). Thats how I found one of mine wasn't working, rather than the heating element itself which was great because they are much cheaper to replace. Not sure about durability but so far my dryer is working after exchanging this thermostat.

As it should be
Unlike some reviews, these came in whirlpool packaging and appear to be OEM. One thing to note if you are having a problem with replacing these and having them "blow" again is that you may have a lint build up in your exhaust line or on the outside of your house where it vents out creating the same problem of overheating the cabin of your dryer, causing it to get too hot and breaking the circuit to prevent fire (as designed). These parts are spot on. Very pleased with the purchase.

Bought cutoff again. Seems like I got a good generic one! Thanks.
The media could not be loaded. Works well. I have bought a couple of these later. I think the problem ended up being an unevenly heating heater coil and or slight blockage in hose. I think it may have been the former.Aug 2019. Bought this again. Arrive broken. Amazon refunded and returned. Very easy return process.June 2020. Bought from this link again. I am not sure it is always the exact same product as it is generic. Anyways, this one seems to be working well. I ensured that the cutoff was marked 352F as others have a lower number like 302F or are blank. I need the 352F type. I attached a picture showing the label and a video. These are not OEM or FSP parts. Before putting the cutoff in, check for continuity using an ohm tester.Update - cutoff failed. Returning to Amazon. Amazon customer service is great. On another note, I think I realized something. These cutoffs are a safety which cutoff of the temperature in the heating element area gets too high. Air flow through the heating element area is critical so if your cutoff is failing, it may be an airflow issue in the exhaust hose, too long a hose, a bad fan blower or lint in the fan blower or other thermostat issue etc. I also realized that suddenly stopping the dryer and then leaving it off may cause the cutoff to fail/open because when you stop the dryer, the fan blower stops which stops air from passing through the heating element housing. This then causes that area to heat up which just may cause the cut off to fail/open. So now, when I stop the dryer early with the intent to leave it off, I restart it with no heat for a minute or so just to allow the heating element to cool. I don’t know if this is true or not, but it hit me so I thought I would share it with others especially anyone looking at buying a cutoff.Be careful when working on your dryer. Always turn off the breaker and put a sign to tell people not to turn it on. Unplug the dryer as well. Electric dryers are 220V which is very dangerous. Be safe.Aug 1 2020. My 20 year old Kenmore dryer is driving me mad as you can tell I have bought many thermal cutoffs over the years. I have managed to reset old ones and keep my dryer running but every few months I have issues it seems.I decided to try again and reorder another thermal cutoff. I think this time I received a good part. I purchased this from seller ZU38000.The Kenmore thermal cutoff is 3398671 which was replaced with 279769I look for FSP parts with 279769 and if I cannot get the part at a reasonable price I look for 352F. I have seen others labeled 309F which I have read are not the same model. I think 352F is some sort of temperature designation. Not sure though. Be careful of generic thermal cutoffs that have no labelling/inscribed numbers. My experience with those ones perform poorly. So this time the items arrived in a small plastic bag labeled ERP-Exact Replacement Part. I think that is what ERO stands for. I had not seen this packaging before.BTW seems like the products sold under this link keeps changing. The ERP one I got that says 352F seems good. I think in prior years I bought FSP parts at a higher price. Those seemed ok as well. I would not buy any thermal cutoffs that have no labelling whatsoever. There are others that read 309F. Although these look identical I have read you should match the one your dryer needs and 309 F and 352 F are different. In conclusion, seems like this thermal cutoff is working well for the past 2-3 days.

NOT AS PICTURED, THEY ARE APPLI PARTS NOT WHIRLPOOL, BUYER BEWARE!!
These are not Genuine Whirlpool parts, they are advertised as Whirlpool when they are in fact Appli Parts which are aftermarket parts. If you want genuine whirlpool this is not the buyer you should get from. With a little guessing I was able to figure out where to place the cables, but I should not have had to do this with the parts that were pictured. I feel that I was in a way jipped because aftermarket parts are cheaper that genuine parts so I feel that I am in need of a partial refund. The parts that are pictured are the parts that are exactly what I was needing to replace the current parts that I have on my dryer. I am not sure if I can even trust the parts that I received because I don't have any clue who Appli Parts are and whether or not they will last. Also after purchasing this item, it was no longer available as a kit for 17.07, maybe they sold out or they realized that people are noticing that they are not genuine whirlpool parts.
