I can reiterate what many reviewers have said about these pillow covers-- they feel like thick stiff paper when you open them. But once you wash and dry them (as directed before using) they become much softer and flexible. They are made of a synthetic patented fabric called "Evolon" by the manufacturer. We have not noticed the covers causing us to feel overheated while sleeping at all. The zippers seem high quality and construction looks and feels solid. I will say if your pillows are really fat, you might have some trouble getting them into the cases. I do believe they are meant to fit snugly.

They got very soft after the first wash. They seemed to help the cases stay on the pillows that usually fall off by morning, so thats a plus. Will be ordering more. I am allergic to cats so these are SUCH a life saver at my boyfriends house. I dont get my nightly stuffy nose anymore and most nights i can breathe through my nose with these bad boys! They would make a perfect give for my mother.

These came and were super stiff straight out of the package, but they do say wash before use. So I soaked them in a baking soda warm water rinse, then put in washer with baking soda only (no laundry soap) then a vinegar rinse cycle. I ordered the standard size, they seemed way too long and big when I first opened them, so I figured I would need to return them, but after washing (drying on low) they seemed to shrink a bit but just enough to actually fit all my pillows properly! I think that must be the key when you get these, wash first and they shrink to the right fit. The zipper works fine. They are a little stiff, and honestly feel like slightly thicker construction paper, but with a pillow case over it, they are totally fine. No sound or stiffness. They don't seem super durable to withstand pulling hard, so put them on the pillow carefully (not yanking them up by the zipper). But I don't intend to take them off and on daily so they seem like they will be fine. These are not the most expensive ones out there, so if you are like me and need allergy protection and buy the cheaper ones as these, you have to expect they are not luxury quality. But they do the job. I have some more pillows I need cases for, I think I'll order them again.

I've had these in use now for 2.5 months and I wanted to write to say there is no rustle or noise from the material - this was something I worried about after reading some of the reviews, I couldn't imagine sleeping well on something that made noise or was like paper. Since you do not sleep directly on them - you cover them with your normal pillow cover, the only rustle you would hear would be normal to whatever material your pillow cover is made of. Purchase without fear :)

I have only had for a short time and have washed only a couple times but it is comfortable and works for dust mites.

I bought a combo of this evolon cover and the sleep safe bed bug covers. The evolon cover is better because the zipper is at the end seam of the pillow and, most importantly, it does not pull the air out of down pillows. The sleep safe covers do not let air through, thus down pillows essentially crush down and loose all loft / comfort. Just bought more of the evolon covers to replace the ones I bought from the other brand.

I was amazed at how quickly the pillow covers helped to relieve symptoms of my dust might allergy. As soon as I received them (which was in a timely fashion) I washed as directed. Placed the covers on the pillows before bed time. I had a very restful sleep and didn't wake up the next morning hacking and coughing as previous mornings. I would recommend these pillow covers to anyone with a dust mite allergy.

The 1 micron protection definitely is a sacrifice for comfort. While you definitely get protection allergens, it doesn't feel like cotton which is no surprise. If the pore size/microns are smaller, the more water resistant and plastic feel you get. You can hear a crinkling noise when you touch the material but it's a bit better buffered when you put a pillow cover over. It's alright for the price but I feel like there are better options that are comfier with adequate protection like Allersoft.
