Q: How much fabric would I need to recover a double divan base?

Hi To be honest I'm not really sure, I had two metres to cover an old toy box and had a lot left over. So I'm guessing probably about 5/6 metres. Try measuring the base. Hope this helps.

Q: How much roughly would i need for a normal standard size headboard?

My headboard is 48" x 24" and I covered both sides of mine. The fabric is 60" wide so the depth would have to be 48" plus selvedges so I would think you would need one and a half yards

Q: I need to make piping fir my upholstery - is this pliable enough??

Yes piping is possible using this fabric but I think you will struggle on a domestic machine, a standard flatbed will be fine
