Dremel brushes
Purchased via Amazon instead of big box store(s). I refurbish old items which are sometimes rusty/tarnished. Bought these and some less expensive non-Dremel brushes to compare the products.Same package as in big box stores.Manufactured in China.Timely received via postal service. Please wear safety glasses or a face shield when using rotary brushes. Protect your eyes.

Incredibly expensive, but Dremel
OK, they are expensive, but everything Dremel holds up better than the alphabet brand names. THese have worked out well.

Durable
I used the Dremel 442-02 steel brush to remove the dirt and surface rust from a 50 year old cyclone fence gate prior to cold galvanizing the gate. It only took one of these high quality brushes to do the entire gate. I was very satisfied with the durability and performance of the steel brush.

Hold up pretty good
Bought to take some rust/pitting out of some untreated steel. Work pretty good w/out scuffing the metal noticably and so far are wearing at an acceptable rate.

Don't be scared by the people saying they fall apart. Use them properly and they work great.
I use these to remove paint and small rust spots from old bike frames I'm restoring. They work great and are a huge help getting paint in tight corners. Don't use too much pressure and don't go crazy on the RPM and these have plenty of life. If you try to use too much pressure they absolutely will fall apart but what do you expect? This isn't a wire wheel on a grinder.

Expensive, but better than alternatives
I have purchased a number of these types of wire brushes (cups, wheels, etc) in both steel and brass. For me, the off brands - especially ones made in China - are of very poor quality or non-existent quality. The individual wires are NOT properly bonded to the holder. Thus, upon first use even, the wires fly off. This also means that most of the wires disappear before you have hardly used it on the iron or metal you are trying to clean. The other thing on some of the “less expensive brands” that upon inspection you will find that the wires that make up the product are not consistent in length from the shaft. I interpret this to mean either 1) the wire length variance is great, 2) the wires are formed properly to holding unit of the shaft, or 3) both issues exist.I got tired of my work shirts being like pin cushions, except that the points were sticking in both directions. For me, the Dremel brand lasts 4-5 times longer than cheap brands. Unfortunately, the unit price of a dremel wire brush ( or any type ) is multiple times in cost.I use the Dremel, due to longevity.I just wish I could buy 50 to 100 brushes at a time at a per unit cost savings instead of just $4 or $5 or whatever for a two pack. Some company needs to step into the middle ground and produce a good quality unit at a reasonable price.

Does the job
Used for cleaning up a cast aluminium house sign prior to repainting. Whatever you do, *do not* exceed the maximum stated rotational speed (15,000 rpm), unless you want steel wires in your eye.

Only for very light work, like taking off nail varnish!
Bought two to help derust some corners on a radiator. Lasted four minutes before wearing down to nothing and disintegrating.

Poor quality
I purchased these based on the 5 star reviews. I used them to clean the gasket area on cast iron. At high RPM's, the wire bristles disintegrated and stuck me in the legs through my jeans. I lowered the RPM to slow, they seemed to work better. I ended up making a emery board block. I do not recommended this item for high RPM's jobs.

These disintegrated
These disintegrated way too fast for their price… lasted about 5 minutes removing rust from some old tools.

Exelente calidad
Vale la pena comprar dos de etas en ves de cien de esas chinas que duran muy poco y se desprenden el alambre y salta y eso es peligroso.
