Deceptively competent system
I used to peep behind the curtains. Then I got Blink. Someone stole my neighbour’s van at 11:00pm on Christmas Day. It shocked me. I decided to get a security camera. Researching these is difficult. There are huge variations in prices and huge ranges in functionality . Nevertheless I decided to buy one. I didn’t want a swivelling camera that followed my neighbour up the road putting a label on him/her, with close-ups and zoom features. I didn’t want to be sitting at the end of my phone or laptop living a vicarious lifestyle of seeing what was happening outside my house without actually being out there in the fresh air. I didn’t want to be panicking at every ding notification on my phone that the neighbour’s cat was wandering about. With these criteria in mind I decided that the Blink camera was actually the one I needed. It is very controllable and adaptable to what I needed. I want a minimalist system, low maintenance , that records incidents at my property , especially when I am away. I can see what is going on if I want to remotely. I can save video evidence if there are snags. My wife wanted to be involved but she didn’t want to be frightened by constant pinging notifications on her iPhone. The setup for these 2 year battery life Blink cameras is effortless. I emailed Blink for advice about a couple of things including switching off notifications. They came back quickly. In the meantime I found out that iPhone lets you turn off these notifications in the Settings menu. You can also plug in your own USB stick to get local storage with no subscription required. It’s a great system . It works very well. The only downside is that the black and white infra red system isn’t as good as I would have liked it for night viewing. I am really impressed with the system, both the software and the hardware, which is simple to set up and operate and cheap to run unobtrusively in the background. It is deceptively competent for the price.

Reliable, Easy-to-Install Security with Amazing Battery Life!
I’ve been using the Blink Outdoor Wireless HD Smart Security Camera for a few months now, and I’m incredibly impressed with its performance. Right out of the box, it was simple to set up—literally plug-and-play. The wireless design meant I didn’t have to deal with complicated wiring, and it took me just minutes to mount the camera in my desired location. Pros: Incredible Battery Life: The two-year battery life is a major selling point. After constant use for several months, the battery is still going strong, and I haven’t had to worry about recharging or replacing it. This makes it super convenient for outdoor use where running power cords isn’t an option. Crystal Clear Video: The HD quality is excellent, both during the day and night. The night vision mode is especially impressive, providing a clear image even in pitch darkness. Smart Alerts: The motion detection works great, and I get real-time alerts on my phone, which gives me peace of mind whether I’m home or away. I can also customize the motion zones to focus on specific areas, which minimizes false alerts from things like passing cars. Weather-Resistant: Living in an area that sees rain, snow, and heat, I can confidently say that the Blink Outdoor camera holds up well in various weather conditions. Affordable Cloud Storage Options: The Blink subscription plan for cloud storage is reasonably priced, and I love that there’s also the option to use local storage if you prefer. Cons: Slight Delay in Live View: There can be a brief delay when accessing live video, but it’s minor and doesn’t affect the overall security benefits of the camera. Overall, the Blink Outdoor camera is an affordable, high-quality option for anyone looking to secure their home. With its reliable motion detection, crystal-clear video, and two-year battery life, it’s been the perfect addition to my home security system. Highly recommend it!

Ignore the 2 year battery life sales pitch...but..
1st things 1st-yep,as others have said-you ARE NOT getting 2 yrs of run out of the batteries unless you have a camera pointing at a spot that never gets activity of any kind and you never check the feed-it's a false sales pitch and should never have been included in the write up of the adverts. BUT- they are easy to use cameras,a doddle to install and the feed is great as long as you have decent wifi. Picture quality is fine and the deterrent is always useful anyway. Theres a degree of lag from motion pick up to recording start so you might miss bits but this is a minor niggle and can be corrected with better placement or,if you can-add more cameras. I bought all 6 of mine,a doorbell and sync box in the prime sales/daily deals for less than £150 all together-keep an eye open for those. High activity areas like one of mine have reduced battery life to less than 8 weeks,so get a pack of lithiums in ready. Theres no real warning about low power unless you have the notifications set to an annoying level either so unless you keep an eye of the device settings, you'll just get "camera offline" when it dies. I'd already read the reviews about power before buying so was prepared for 2 year life lie-keep that in mind. I'm happy enough with the performance, the quality and ease of use-have also subscribed to the cloud version-gives more options than just using the sync module. Looking at buying the solar charge attachment for my heavy use camera.

Brilliant system, soooo recommended!
My Blink set-up includes three outdoor cameras and a doorbell, across two sync modules that are on the same wifi network. I needed two sync modules, because thecameras at the back of the house were slightly out if range to the sync for the doorbell. Using the two gives me full coverage of my inside and outside space. It's my first smart doorbell and cameras, so I wasn't sure ehqt to expect, but these have been brilliant over the last month or so. I stopped the cloud storage option and use a USB in each sync module. The difference to me is loading recordings takes a few seconds longer, there's thumbnail view of the clip, clips need to be deleted one by one, and you can't manually record something in live view. So there are some. Small compromises when using the USB storage. I ammjust letting the clips build up and once the USBs are full, will plug them in the laptop, wipe them and reuse them. You can still download and share clips from the App whe. Using the USB, so you can make a quick copy of anything important. Set up is literally unbox, insert batteries, plug in sync modul, download App and follow instructions. Each device has its own QR code that makes it was to connect to. The work great with my fire sticks, so I can answer the door bell from any TV in the house, or I can also check the cameras too. They also worm great woth Alexa, and i can give arm/disarm commands quickly so I don't getting setting the motion detection off when at home. On motion detection, being able to set areas not to detect, and set the sensitivity is also brilliant. The motion detection is not PIR based like a classic motion detector might be, it's done by assessing changes in pixels, so occasional 'false' recording is unavoidable, but you can more or less prevent but getting the settings right. Using the Alexa app, I've been able to set some routines that turn on my hue lights in certain parts of the garden/porch/drive etc. when the cameras detect motion. There's a few seconds delay, but it's more than acceptable and is a nice touch when getting home late or for security purposes. It also avoided me buying hue outdoor sensors at £45 a pop! Overall, this is a brilliant system. It's user friendly, has decent connectivity and features without a monthly fee (if USB used) and I love it!

Very pleased overall.
I bought a set of 3 in June and was so pleased I waited for another sale and bought a single one in October and will re-jig the positions in the garden next year. They are not perfect but for the price and not having to have them wired in, they are great. It’s a great picture during the day and due to my house not being attached to my garden or having a window view, it’s great for me to be able to check out what’s going on, or even the weather. As our garden is long I can also see at the end of it. Having notifications on can be a pain though. You want the security but if there is a slight wind and you have trees or furniture covers it goes off all the time and you can’t zone off all of the garden to block out those areas, which is a great tool. My light swings under our pergola, so I have it zoned off. On the other hand it could alert you straight away if someone or something is in your garden. As opposed to wired cameras that you have to FF to see who it was but the moment has passed. It’s not practical for us to have a wired system in the garden with multiple cameras. We have outdoor lights which help at night to see what’s going on. One corner doesn’t show up very well at night due to having no light there, but fortunately it’s covered by another camera, which is weird as it does show up. We do get condensation in a couple of the cameras. One is right next to the field and another behind the greenhouse so both cameras are exposed or sheltered from early sun to dry out. It doesn’t happen all the time. Depends on early morning mist. This is the only downside. I don’t subscribe to the cloud but use a usb card. It does take a bit longer to view the alert of which I don’t know why, but it’s no big deal. Due to the condensation issue I’d give it 90%. Other than that I feel it’s been a life saver. I don’t feel as trapped in my house now. I also love the easiness of the app. One of the cameras on our decking which is used mostly has had a battery warning on it for a couple of weeks. The battery has lasted 4 months. We do disarm the camera when we are out there or try to but it’s still ran out. Spiders also set the camera off and we get constant webs on two of the camera. But they are in nature so you can’t expect anything less. Overall I’m really happy with them.

Was good, now greed has ruined it AVOID
We purchased these back in 2021, back then if you went live you could record as well as view. You could have more than one camera activate and record to your hub usb stick. The picture quality is good, the battery lasts a reasonable amount of time yet is expensive to replace as they use the most expensive aa batteries. The speakers for talking back are poor, they fail and crackle after a few years. The installation is easy, as is the setup. However, our BT hub just couldn't hack the traffic and I had to buy a 2nd router and side link it to it. (This made the overall setup hard) The app in 2021 was very good, fully featured. In 2021 the only reason to have the subscription was to remove the worry of someone breaking in and taking the memory stick with the evidence on. So fast forward to 2024, greed and zero care for the consumer has set in. No longer can you record from live view without a subscription, no longer can you have more than one camera record without a subscription. App features are ripped out, slapped in and moved to subscription only without care or warning. Why, greed, pure and simple greed. Now, without the subscription, it is a security camera system with massive vunerable issue's. It makes having a wired system with a hard drive attached look more attractive and the competitors do it far better. So in 2024 this system is bin fodder at best, unless you want to be at the mercy of a company as bent as a round about. This is an honest and acurrate review, once loved, now hated system. Good luck.

Solid, No-Fuss Home Security That Just Works
🌟🌟🌟🌟☆ Been running the Blink Outdoor 4-Camera Security System for a few weeks now, and overall, it’s a solid bit of kit. Setup was quick—connected through Wi-Fi with no need for cables or drilling. Just mount, sync, and you’re good to go. Battery Life: Claims two years per set, and so far the battery life is holding up nicely. No faffing around with recharging every few weeks. Video Quality: Daytime footage is crisp and clear, and the night vision does the job well enough. You’re not filming a blockbuster, but you’ll see what you need to. Motion Detection: Motion alerts come through fast, and you can tweak the sensitivity and detection zones. Cuts out most of the false triggers, like wind or birds flapping about. Storage Options: You’ve got the choice of cloud storage (with a sub) or plugging in a USB stick for local backup—simple enough, depending how much footage you want to keep. Overall: Great value system if you want an easy-to-use, wire-free setup that covers multiple angles around the home. Set it and forget it—but still sleep easy.
