My little one enjoyed working in the book. She looked forward to doing workbooks.

Great to have an idea of core standards and how they are related to what kids have to learn. Amazons shipping and packing is great too!

About 1/3 of the book is flashcards. Unfortunately, that was not something I was looking for. It did a good job going over what the common core requirements are if the want to know that. I will check out another Spectrum item as I have been happy with them in the past. This just wasn't this item for me this time.

Our 1st grade grandson is using this text book and it is the most useless piece of garbage I've ever seen. For example it includes the following instructions (verbatim from the book)"Think about the number of tens in the numbers in each row and the number of ones in the numbers in each column. Think about the last row by itself. Answer the questions."The questions such as "What numbers have 4 ones" have NOTHING to do with the instructions. The opening text is bizarre, difficult to understand and has no relevancy to the questions. 1st graders want to get the right answer but when the instructions make that difficult or impossible it leads to frustration and ambivalence. Shame on whoever wrote this garbage.
