still works great after 3.5 years
we use it daily to charge our 2 plug-in hybrids. it has held up perfectly and we haven't had any problems. definitely a good option if you want fast level2 charging for a very reasonable price.

Good Support
I purchased this charger last year. It worked fine for about 3-4 months. Then, for some reason my vehicle would no longer charge to full. I tried it on a public charger and it charged fine. I reached out to customer support and explained the issue. They asked for some pictures, which I provided. They asked me to return the unit and they would send a replacement. I shipped the charger back and a a couple of days later, they sent me tracking for the replacement. It arrived and works perfectly. Overall, I’m pleased with this purchase.

Update after a year
Update after a year (original review below): Had problems after a few months with this stopping charging - it has a short circuit warning. I got in touch with support and they had me reset the breaker and this worked for a bit. Gradually over time, this problem got worse, to the point where I couldn't charge for more than an hour or two before it would just stop. To determine if it was my car, the charger, or my home wiring, I bought another portalbe charger (the easiest thing to change out.) I've been using this one and it doesn't ever trip at all, and charges to full every time. This tells me the fault lies with the lefanev charger. The 1* review is because they promise a 2 year warranty. They have not responded to my inquiries (thier support channel is Facebook messenger) and the bot tells you to e-mail a gmail address if you're not getting an answer. I'm not getting an answer from gmail either. The product is garbage, the support is worse. It's an expensive paperweight. Avoid this brand if only for the lack of proper support. Original review: Bought to use with a 40A 14-30R I had installed specifically for my VW ID.4 on the side of my condo. I didn't want to get a permanent wall box due to living in a condo so I got this portable unit. Granted, it's only the first day, but I plugged it in and it ramped up to 40A pretty quickly and my car gets about 35 miles per hour of charge time. A great improvement over level 1 charging for sure. I'm still learning a bit - like when I came home later and plugged it in, it was only drawing 5A - but it's the car that decides what to draw, not the charger. After some fiddling around I realized it behaved differently based on whether the car was locked or unlocked. Anyway - that's not pertinent to the charger itself, which delivers a consistent 40A when the vehicle is asking for it - and that's all I wanted.

Exceeds expectations.
Exceeds expectations. Works as good as the charger that came with my new 2020 Tesla, model 3. Also charges faster. The charger puts out a true 40A to the car. However, if I set the Tesla to receive 40 amps, the charger needs to output about 42 amps (some IR losses somewhere). So I set the Tesla to 38 amps which gives me about 36 MPH to the car. setting the current on the Tesla any higher than 38 amps causes an error code on the charger. The charger has and LED display has a visual read-out for the error codes. I waited a few months before giving this review, just to give the charger some time to go wrong. No problems at all and I use it to charge up, two or three times a week.

Works for my Tesla Model 3 (with a catch)
So, without spending the 500.00+ for the official 48AMP Tesla charger for my Model 3, I opted for something a bit more modular that I could put on an outlet so if it ever failed I could just replace it. The value for this charger was good. Much cheaper than some of it's competitors. I bought this charger and gave it a test run on my car. I've had this charger for less than a month and it has been dependable. I did have problems when first setting the AMPS to charge my car. This charger is rated to handle 40AMPS max. I thought I would try this charging rate out first. After a time, the charger stopped with a message stating short circuit. At first I thought this might be a defective unit, but I noticed the temperature that it was showing. 132 degrees. Well this is the max temp this charger will run at. So it looks it shut itself down due to the temp. Once I reduced the amperage the temp goes down and the charger stays running. Other than that, this has been a good charger for refueling my EV at a decent price.

This Charger is a BEAST!!
I bought my Jaguar iPace about 2 weeks ago. For the first 8 days, I was chasing chargers all over town. I learned the hard way that my local mall's Charge Point charges for KW's and for parking, so a 6 hour session which only gave me about 70 miles of charge was about $28. During the break-in period my car seemed to burn through the miles. I got this charger about 5 days ago and it has been amazing. I'm sure part if this is because my car's battery is breaking in, but I start each day with a full 250 miles of charge. I drive a lot every day. First 8 days of using public chargers, both level 2 snail chargers and rapid chargers, I would end my work day with 40 or fewer miles, camp out at a rapid charger ($20 plus) and then go home with about 220 miles. This was not fun. Today I drove more that usual and still got home with about 130 miles. And after about 1.5 hours I have 181 miles. likely will go from 130 miles to 250 plus in less than 4 hours total. This charger is a level 2 unit, but it's at least twice as fast as any of the public level 2's I've used. So happy to be charging at home!!! Thank you, Lefanev, whoever you are.

Quality Charger
96% efficient at 38 amps 240 volts. Works great with my 2019 Tesla Model 3 Long Range Dual Motor. Have been charging it with the car limiting to 38 amps as suggested by other commenters; it’s obvious the line loss increases the amperage from .5-1.5 amps above the Teslas set point, which would trip the charger. So, 38 amps is definitely the sweet spot. I have this charger outdoors mounted to the exterior of my garage where it’s been rained on and in direct sunlight for quite some time with no issues so far. Other than the official tesla charger costing $200, making the value of this charger more expensive than the official counterpart, I would suggest this to anyone requiring a J1772 charging connection.
