The picture showed 6/7 rods .....which I guessed will be arriving .I got just one piece .....very disappointed ......the the rod itself is finished very well

I bought this item just under a year ago and have tried several times to wind from my swift. It just doesn’t do it properly and (not sure if this makes sense) it winds on one slope. My husband is an engineer and he identified the issue which was the yarn holder bit touching the dome below which makes it turn. He said the contact between them was poor, however there was a screw which he might be able to tighten. Unfortunately the screw just turns in the hole. I have tried not to be too technical in describing the issue but in a nutshell this just doesn’t work. My hubby explained in detail and I understand but it’s too long to put in a review. I can’t give more than one star as despite looking sturdy and well made it really isn’t.

Everyone wants that little bit of something special that doesn't cost the earth, this is one of those bits of kit a knitter needs that doesn't take up a lot of space and is light enough to carry anywhere.It is made of Rosewood so looks and feels special. It is easy to use, so you can buy those beautiful skeins of wool you really couldn't resist when you were on holiday and now know you can turn them into balls as you need them in a matter of minutes.You can make the yarn pull from the middle so that new ball can go into the tin or pot and stay clean, no rolling around the floor. Great stuff!Go on give yourself a treat, buy one. It really is worth it.

This Maplewood center-pull ball winder is an excellent purchase. It is pretty enough to leave displayed in my room, it functions perfectly, it is sturdy and produces tidy yarn muffins. Although it was sent to France from INDIA (!), it arrived in four days! How did that happen? The ball winder was not assembled, but assembly was quick and easy, even without instructions. The clear photo on AMAZON was all that was needed.

I'd never heard of a nostepinne but saw it mentioned in a magazine, and I love gadgets so decided I needed to try one. It comes with no instructions but there are plenty of YouTube videos out there and 30 minutes after receiving it I had wound myself a lovely little centre pull ball of yarn. It could have been neater but practice makes perfect!

I notice a few people have complained about this item's ease of use. I believe this to just be a matter of correct technique. I'm getting into it now and it becomes a matter of muscle memory, which is fine and, I feel, gives a lovely connection to how things used to be done. Asthetically this is and expertly turned beautifully finished piece of prime, rich coloured, hardwood with no defects. Simply but addiquatley packaged. It came with a card for other products and one of the pictures was a high-end chess board - it feels like that - high-end and perfect (seriously, no imperfections!). My son likes Harry Potter so I've just ordered a second!
