Brilliant album!
I bought this album for my 16 year old son. He loves it as I did when it first came out, Ten Feet Tall is one of the best pop songs ever written. Unfortunately, it didn't come with the promised 7 inch single.

Classic album from 1979, from those Swindon geezers
Great reissue on vinyl, sounds fresh and new even after all these years

Inner sleeve notes and credits missing
Great album , bought original release , fab pressing and inner sleeve advertising all other APE releases as usual - but no band credits , notes or production details All the other recent vinyl re issues include thisChecked with their main distributors Burning Shed - it’s not a mistake - crazy !!!

Labels reversed
This pressing and mastering is magnificent and sounds much better than my trusty, old, worn 1979 copy. The labels on the bonus single are reversed, if that matters to you, so limelight is chain of command and vice versa! So loses one star for typical modern (poor) standards of quality control.

"A Real By Reel Review Of The New XTC 'drums and wires' 5.1 CD/DVD and CD/Blu-ray Set......"
To take a page from the DEEP PURPLE playbook, 'drums and wires' was the first release by XTC Mark II. The original recording band from Swindon, UK consisted of Andy Partridge (guitar & vocals), Colin Moulding (bass & vocals), Barry Andrews (keyboards & vocals) and Terry Chambers (drums). Partridge was the main songwriter, with Moulding and Andrews contributing their own compositions here and there as well. XTC Mark I recorded two albums, ' WHITE MUSIC ' and ' GO 2 .' It was after the recording of the second album that Andrews, wanting the group to perform more of his material coupled with his two compositions being pushed to the end of Side Two of the second album, prompted him to leave. Andrews went to become a co-founder of post-punkers ' SHRIEKBACK .' XTC was a success with fans and critics alike from the start, their herky-jerky rhythms, angular compositions and interesting lyrical content was comparable to, not unfairly, a British version of early TALKING HEADS. While both albums had plenty to offer, it was the one-two-three punch of non-LP hit "Life Begins At The Hop," Top 20 follow-up "Making Plans For Nigel" (#17 UK) and third album 'drums and wires' (Aug. 1979) that really broke the band wide. Andrews had been replaced by multi-instrumentalist and fellow Swindon native and pal Dave Gregory. It also helped that producer Steve Lillywhite and engineer Hugh Padham were able to produce the band the way that leader Partridge had envisioned from the start. Since I was a rabid XTC fan from the beginning, who lived for and anxiously awaited their then regular releases of many non-LP and 12" import singles, I can honestly say I'm not impartial, this was always one of my favorite albums by them as well. For this "Surround Sound Edition" Steven Wilson returns, producing the new Stereo and 5.1 Surround material as he did for last years inaugural series releases of ' NONSUCH .' I was thrilled to find that 'drums and wires' was next in line, although it has many advocates I find it to be one of their lesser albums. The many non-LP single tracks lovingly produced have brought back a flood of memories and have put me in...yes, wait for it...ecstasy. I could go on and on, but the reason you're probably reading this is to find out what the contents are, since Amazon in their infinite wisdom has failed to provide a Track Listing. It's also hard to discern if they're offering the CD/DVD or CD/Blu-ray version as well, you might want to check out some other more prepared retailer. Needless to say, you NEED to buy the Blu-ray version, if you don't have a player, now's the time to upgrade. Here's the bang you get for your buck......CD (Both Versions):1. Making Plans For Nigel2. Making Plans For NigelThe set comes in a nice glossy slipcased digipak like the previous year's Surround Sound Editions of 'NONSUCH.' The 16-page booklet features notes from both Andy Partridge and Colin Moulding and Song Notes from both on all the major tracks, although those with copies of " XTC: Song Stories " will be wont of finding anything new. Although the two promotional videos look fantastic and look like they were mastered from the original elements, the only complaint I have is the dearth of additional video content compared to the 'NONSUCH' reissue. In the liner notes Moulding mentions their "Top Of The Pops" experiences and there's some great contemporary live concert material on YouTube that would've looked great on Blu-ray (are you receiving me, Andy?)......

Such a shame
What a shame can’t believe after all the reviews about the missing single Amazon are still advertising this as a two disk please sort as it’s annoying as this a masterpiece of an album for a greatly underrated band otherwise would have been a six star review

Didn’t contain bonus single
Ordered twice and both times arrived without the bonus single. I’ve now given up.

Classic Album
Picking up an upgrade of my original copy which has been massively played. The vinyl sounds great and you can't beat the music. This is XTC with that early energy but moving into more sophisticated material and arrangements. The bonus single is a wonderful addition.

A not so complicated game
Andy Partridge has done a great service for all XTC fans by remastering the band’s catalogue on vinyl. I have purchased each album as they have been made available so far, and each album has been a total joy to hear. These pressings have been exceptional and the sound quality is absolutely brilliant. Even the packaging has been done with great care, and attention to detail. This is (I think) the first and only time the band released an album which included a bonus 7”single, and this reissue has replicated the original concept. Having owned everything released back in the day, I can attest to the fact that these new remasters sound as good, and in some cases, even better than the originals.XTC is one of my favorite bands, and why they never garnered the attention and respect they deserve has always baffled me. With exceptional songwriting and musical complexity that’s right up there with the best of them, these guys have provided a soundtrack to my life as essential to me as the Beatles. And the comparison is justifiable. The quality of these remasters are well worth the investment, with 200 gram vinyl and sturdy material used for the album jackets. The sound quality is absolutely remarkable, so if you’re a fan, don’t hesitate. It’s not a complicated game, grab a copy while you can.

Damaged item received, product not as advertised.
Item was poorly packaged, in a box too large for it, so it bounced around in transit inside the box, and became quite damaged as a result. Inner sleeve and outer sleeve both damaged / torn / ripped. Item is also not as advertised. Item is advertised as 'Limited 200gm vinyl LP pressing plus bonus 7" single (A side: Chain Of Command B side: Limelight). 7 inch vinyl pressed at standard 7 inch vinyl weight.' but the item delivered did NOT include the bonus 7" single as advertised.

Consegna puntuale e corriere Amazon molto gentile
