Minnetonka Women's Thunderbird Moccasin

As an avid purchaser of shoes; I'm always looking for shoes that are both fashionable & comfortable. I owned 3 pairs of Minnetonka Thunderbird moccasins in the 80's in the red, white & lavender smooth leather. I loved them so much & wore them everywhere! They were comfortable from the moment I purchased them & only got better with time. I loved them so much & if my mother hadn't tossed all of my items after college, I'd guarantee my moccasins would still be fabulous & in good shape as all of my friends still have their old school Thunderbird Moccasins from then & still wear them now! They still look amazing! I was hoping to purchase a pair that were exactly like my old school ones from the 80's. I was nervous & apprehensive to purchase them online not b/c I don't purchase shoes online, but due to all the reviews that are all over the place when it came to sizing & proper fit. I'm typically a 6.5 across the board in shoes, but leaning more towards 6 than size 7. I also have a medium width & medium to high arch. Although I purchase shoes online frequently, I wanted to read reviews & do more research because although these moccasins are gorgeous & look exactly the same as the ones I owned from the 80's, that didn't necessary mean they fit or felt the same as my old school ones as looks can be deceiving. I found that out the hard way when I recently purchased Dr. Scholl wooden exercise sandals. Although they looked like the old styles from the 70's, they're completely different in everyway shape & form. After reading extensive reviews & doing research, I settled after a lot of debating upon the size 6m women's Thunderbird moccasins, smooth leather in navy blue. I settled on a half size smaller than my size b/c that's what size I ordered in the 80's & they fit perfectly & stretched a little bit for extra comfort. I was hoping that Minnetonka had stayed a stand up, quality company after all these yrs. & they met above & beyond my expectations! I love them & can't wait to own the rest of them in the smooth leather. I know that many people have different opinions on the sizing, but I purchased a half size smaller in the 80's & again in 2014 & the moccasins fit perfectly then & now! I'm so happy I didn't purchase my typical size being 6.5m as these moccasins would definitely be too big for me if I had. Now that I had such success w/ my new smooth navy blue leather moccasins; I can't wait to own them all! The quality is exactly as amazing today as it was back in the 80's & it's an American classic! Can't say enough except that I'm a loyal fan & only wish I had purchased these sooner as I missed my old school ones! Hope they come out w/ the pastels colors they sold in the 80's like aqua & lavender as they sell them in the smooth pastel pink leather. I also wish they'd bring back the smooth & suede red leather Thunderbird moccasins! I know I'm hooked & will keep buying new colors.

I have an unusually high arch (the highest my podiatrist has ever seen) so arch support is forever an issue for me. I used to wear this shoe all the time for many years until my former podiatrist recommended Birkenstocks. Now that the cost is a real issue I am going back to the Minnetonka shoes. I was really happy to find them on Amazon as the shoe store I used to get them at has long since closed. These are long wearing shoes and even though the toe is a bit narrow for my wide feet - the leather does stretch a little making them quite comfortable. I do not recommend wearing them in snow/ice slippery conditions as the sole is not made for gripping (I personally wear some really rugged boots until the thaw comes then go back to my shoes). Great shoe for casual wear and honestly, I wear mine all the time as I do not care for many shoes.

I love Minnetonka moccasins and have owned several pair over the years, mainly the suade ones. This is the first time I ordered them in the smooth leather but I wanted them in white and white suade wasn't available. I do like the shoes and will keep them but I was initially a little disappointed. The suade moccasins are so comfortable that you might as well be barefoot but these are a little more stiff and cut into the top of my foot a little. After a few hours my foot gets a little sore on top. I'm hoping that it's just a breaking-in issue. The suade ones, however, you don't have to break-in, they're comfortable from day 1. Also, the sizes of this smooth leather version are larger. I wear a 4.5 in the suade version so that's the size I ordered for these shoes but they felt a little big (though they stayed on my feet okay). I set them beside the suade versions and they look to be about a 1/2 size bigger. I thought a mistake was made and I was sent a size 5 until I looked inside the shoe, they do say 4.5. I'm going to keep them because I'm afraid ordering down a 1/2 size will make them cut into the top of my foot more. I can't comment on the longevity of the shoe since I just purchased them but I've been wearing a pair of the suade versions for abut 10 years and there's no sign of wear on them! All in all, I love the look and hoping they will be more comfortable when I wear them awhile longer. I would recommend the suade version over this smooth leather version though.

I thought these looked great, although the size, which is my size was a little big. I thought I could make the tie tighter and that would help and I thought adding a shoe insert might help, but neither of these things resolved the problem. You cannot make the tie tighter around the foot so it won't fit better. I took the insert out that I added, (which had only been in a few times), to see if I could wear them without stepping out of them due to the size. This didn't work and on top of this they started hurting the soles of my feet, especially the heel area, so much so that I cannot wear them at all now. I didn't even have them on more than 10 minutes on the last try to see if I could wear them. I wouldn't even give them away because of the pain they cause on the soles of my feet and my heel . The foot pad is not a full foot pad...it looks like half of it was cut out and another sole put in, but they don't fit together so I wasted my money. There is no cushion and I don't know what to do. I wanted these to work very badly. I have always loved Minnetonka moccasins, but these must not be from the Minnetonka manufacturer because they have a reputation and I doubt they woulds sell shoes that hurt and don't fit with the top of the inner sole cut the way these are. I wanted these so badly, but now they are just not wearable.

The 1.5 smaller size was fitting even with my bunions (normal size is 7.5 and 6 was the true fit). Thanks to Amazon return policy, I was able to buy at a reasonable price the sizes I had to try. The leather seems more supple than the suede. If the size is too big it could be fitting with an inner sole. Color navy looks more like a dark grey indoor but outside it does look navy but both are neutral colours.

They were perfect...no complaints what so ever.....

These are the best! I couldn’t find anything close to this here in the UK. I wanted traditionally styled Indian mocassins. These are awesome! They fit like a glove and are super comfortable. I want more!! Love love love ‘em!!!🤣

ordered on Oct 6th and received on Oct 14th. delivery arrived slightly earlier than what was indicated - which is great! the shoes fit me perfectly! i have wide feet and was worried if size 6 would be too small but its alright! 😄👍🏼
