Backyard Birds: 12 Quilt Blocks to Appliqué from Piece O’ Cake Designs

I've not done much appliqueing before, especially not needle-turn. This book provides easy to follow and complete instructions, but I some of the pieces are extremely tiny (bird beaks and eyes, for example), so they're not exactly designed for the beginning appliquer. That said, the designs are gorgeous and lend themselves well to additional embroidery and other embellishments. If you're a beginner, give it a good look over before buying. But if you're experienced at all, you'll find these designs lovely and sufficiently challenging.

This is the book for you if you're a lover of applique, new at it, or an appreciator of fine design! Piece O' Cake's directions are terrific for beginners through experienced quilters, patterns are clear and without the dreaded teeny-tiny pieces, and the designs (which can, of course, be completed in any style of fabric from Oriental to repro and everything in between) are great and not too fussy.

The direction are lacking a little. Does not have individual pictures of each square. Great tracing diagrams. Might need help if you are a beginner.

Love all of Becky Goldsmiths books. I think I have all of them. Just love her style. And everyone has nothing but praises for the quilts that I made from her patterns and books.

I love, love the Backyard Birds & love the 2 layouts Becky provides. I will definitely make both layouts - one of each granddaughter! I have purchased many of Piece O'Cakes patterns & have been pleased with each & everyone of them.

I love this birds and the patterns, Directions are good and easy too. Anyone who likes birds (me) and loves to appliqué (me too) will enjoy making these backyard birds.

Piece O' Cake does applique designs just about better than anyone else. I have all of their blocks and can very much recommend their products to anyone who loves applique.

Another excellent pattern from Piece O' Cake! Like that they show you another layout. The first thing I did when I got the pattern was take my favorite bird and made a pillow cover.

I am really enjoying this. My only disappointment is that the illustrations are very small and I would have liked to see larger images.

This was bought as part of my friends christmas present but I had a quick look at it and it seems okay, the birds are a bit basic but this allows plenty of scope for bead and embroidery embelishment.

I have always wanted to make a quilt with bird motifs. This has clear instructions and templates, beautiful illustrations and fabric colourway ideas to guide you to making a beautiful quilt.

Nice pattern but some of the instructions anticipate that you know what you are doing! Be aware that this is not a book but a folder of patterns. That said I was pleased with it. Great present for quilters.
