Informative
This book simply touches on multiple types of divination tools. I do not believe it was intended to be a thorough breakdown of each one. I do not know that such a thing is possible in one book; but would take one (or more) book on each tool. If you are looking for a book on a specific type of divination, then there are more books provided at the back of this book - ie. recommended books on palmistry, a book on tarot, a book on pendulums, a book on dreaming, numerology, etc; which I'm sure include more details in those specific areas. This is simply an introduction to get you started on an array of options. I feel it is a good one. As you read about the different forms of divination, you may levitate to a particular tool and expand your research from there.

Great for a primer!
This book is a great primer for divination. Yes, I realize it is for beginners (yes, I was one at the time I purchased and read it). No, it does not cover many of the subjects that I've had to look elsewhere to learn about, and the ones it does cover are not as in-depth as I expected from a Cunningham book. I also greatly disagree, in hindsight, with many of the classifications of the various techniques. For example, tarot is under the 'advanced techniques' portion of the books with only a small section (5 pages not including card descriptions, the majority of which is history) and no spreads offered despite being arguably the most popular form of divination today. Pendulums, as another example, receive two pages in the 'other techniques' section. Compare these with the section on mantic arts involving water, which spans more than 10 pages. The information offered is also slightly skewed in favor of history and theory rather than actual technique. I found the amounts to be disproportionate, as there are roughly 75 pages of history and 125 pages of practical technique (each of which includes a detailed history of the particular art). The last 40 pages are a glossary, appendix and index. This is personal opinion, of course, but I expected more practical information.Overall I do not regret the purchase and am happy to have it in my personal library (Cunningham is a phenomenal author and I view his works as essential to my collection), but I did have to explore several other sources in order to get a grip on even the basics of divination.

On the Divine Level
Scott Cunningham is always a wonderful read and this will be one also. Of course, the first thing his preliminary test said to do pointed out that I should wait a bit before continuing on researching within the book. As it turns out--all came to me--as it should. Maybe all I needed to do was touch the book and read the first few pages to make the next move clear to me. Very appropriate for Scott's work.

Professional Diviner Approved
I adore this book! It starts out with some history, then moves on to practices and tips and tricks. I'm a professional diviner, but I still love this book. It has a wealth of resources and history. I really do enjoy this book. It's an easy read as well.Would definitely recommend to anyone, and would definitely buy again.

A little bit of everything
Intriguing read, wonderful content for future reference. Scott Cunningham's grace throughout, and concise introductions to an unbelievable number of divining techniques. Although this book won't really help one to become proficient in any particular art, it gets them started, and points a person in the right direction. I especially liked the neat idea of using Scrabble pieces to divine. Walmart sells just the scrabble pieces with a pouch in their scrapbooking section, a perfect purchase to go along with this divination suggestion.

Very informative
Very in depth book and informative. Have only read about the divination I'm interested In and the info it gave me is great. I'm sure the other things it covers are written about in depth too. Highly recommend.
