The Dark and the Wicked

I blind bought this because I read a review on a horror movie site, and I'm glad I did!! Very well made, spooky and worth the money!! Turn off all the lights and snuggle up and watch this creepy movie!!!

I consider myself a horror aficionado and let’s just say it takes quite a bit to impress. Some had told me this film is a slow burn, but this movie is unnerving from the get go. I cringed at some parts, particularly with a specific gore scene, and jumped throughout. It’s legitimately creepy and I highly recommend it, has similar dark tone to a movie like Hereditary. The Dark and the Wicked is definitely one of the better recent horror films I’ve seen, so check it out!

Scary and well-done. Some confusing & unexplained plot points and bleak ending, but solidly creepy.

Slow start, good plot, got confusing at times and I feel the ending could've been better. For a horror movie it definitely could've been scarier.

A movie and story about nihilistic evil. Not a movie for people who like their stories spoonfed, nor who like positive and easy resolutions. The cinematography, acting, writing, and imagery are incredible, and trust the audience to be intelligent and analytical. This holds up very well to repeat viewings. Specifically, watch the part with the goats stirring in the first few minutes very closely. There is a half second reveal which is horrifying. And when you have seen the whole movie already, the scene with the priest talking to them at the table is brilliantly unsettling.

For me, "The Dark and the Wicked" may have "The Blackcoat's Daughter" beat for the gloomiest movie ever. From beginning to end, this movie left the hair on my arms sticking straight up (or maybe my room was just cold!). Two adult siblings return under unpleasant circumstances to their parents' farmhouse; their father is dying, and their mother is gripped with fear that an evil presence wants his soul. While you won't probably won't get scared in the traditional horror movie sense, I think this will surprise you, especially if you enjoyed Hereditary. The true horror in this desolate, hopeless movie lies in the all-consuming loneliness and grief felt by its characters. The ultimate terror of complete and total abandonment.

This is a good movie! I watched it without watching any trailers based on the reviews and I'm glad I purchased it sight unseen. I highly recommend this if you LOVE horror and especially if you liked The Witch and Hereditary.

Absolutely disgusting. The seller wont tell you that this movie is locked for region B mediaplayers. Only playable on region A mediaplayers. My money is down the drain.

Peut-être est-ce moi qui ai trop visionné de films d'horreur dans ma vie, mais celui-ci, qui selon les nombreux commentaires que j'ai lu, devait être pratiquement un chef d'œuvre de film d'horreur et on est à des kilomètres de là. Un film fade, prévisible et dont les effets spéciaux laissent à désirer. L'histoire n'est pas terrible non plus. Bref, pour ma part, c'est une déception.

Excelente película de suspenso que va de menos a más, muy recomendable. El blu-ray cuenta con subtítulos en español.

Bueno comenzando con el estado de la película, los bordes inferiores del slipcover venían maltratados y lo que guarda el disco venía como abombado, por el precio en el que se está manejando actualmente ($327) deja mucho que desear. Hablando de la película, yo la compré escuchando buenas cosas y al final me dejé llevar por las reseñas de los de Amazon US, pero deja mucho que desear, esta bien echa para ser una película de poco presupuesto, y es mejor que otras grandes producciones, pero no es nada del otro mundo, en mi opinión no vale su precio actual
