And it works great just hope it lasts longer than the one we had from a different manufacturer it's a rheostat slide type of switch and it wears out and at the lower lighting levels it will flicker

This is plug in lamp dimmer switch suitable for LED or incandescent lights.It says CFL lights as well but I didn’t have one of those handy so can’t say how well it works with those. However, otherwise, this is something that really makes a difference in your home decor.I bought a pair of electric hurricane lamps with a marble base that is 40s to 50s vintage. These are the kind with the smaller shades and is possible to hang crystals on it. I bought crystals and needed to buy new felt for the bottom. I had a few incandescent teardrop shaped bulbs that were white.Just the pair sitting there looks great with the old-style knotty pine paneling in much of the house. But when I paired it with this dimmer switch, it went from looking great to absolutely fantastic. Because it’s dimmed, the white tear drop bulbs show up through the frosted glass. I leave it on all the time at the lowest setting and it makes quite a statement.I don’t think anyone’s mentioned this but this is a mechanical dimmer switch. The advantage of being mechanical over electronic is there’s less to go wrong. And, if the power goes off, when it comes back on, the lamp lights at the chosen setting.The only change I made was adding a three-outlet plug adapter on the end as I have it going to a pair of lamps. The switch sits in the back largely unnoticed.These types of lamps are perfect to pair up on a fireplace mantle, a buffet, on top of a china cabinet or wherever your imagination takes you. The cord is long enough but not too long to be a problem.Given the fact this is a mechanical switch, I feel it’ very reasonably priced and very subtly will enhance your room’s lighting effects.

We restrung our Christmas tree with 1200 "warm" LED lights and when we turned it on, WOW...needed sunglasses! Lights we purchased did not say that they were dimmable, but decided to try a dimmer anyway. Looked at a number of them online and kept coming back to this product. Some reviews noted that the dimmer didn't work, some people said it got hot, and others said it made their lights flicker. Not so in our case. We are very pleased with the dimmer.

The dimmer is probably fine for other lights or fixtures. As clearly stated in the product description, this doesn't work on all lights. I bought 'Holiday Bright Lights(tm) Starry Twinkle Light Set' from Blain's Farm & Fleet and was hoping to dim them as they are a bit too bright on the Christmas tree. (Pic 1 without dimmer.) At the highest setting on the dimmer (2nd pic), they appear HALF their original brightness and do not twinkle. The twinkle bulbs stay unlit. They do dim down to like 25% and turn off in the 'Off' position. However I was hoping to use full brightness during the day and turn them down at night. Not twinkling is a deal breaker for me. Returned.

I added this to a (new to me) Floor Lamp, and now have smooth, stepless dimming control over whichever dimmable LED Lamp I choose. The "Dimmer" portion can be mounted discretely to Furniture or Trim using double-faced tape, and because it is a manual slide rheostat-type controlled, will hold its dimming level should the receptacle be controlled via on-off wall switch of similar. A great piece at good value!

When you try to dim light it just strobes.

It works just fine on the high end and midrange of the brightness. But at the low range, it belongs unstable, and can in fact turn the light off, and than on again. This is basically exactly what you need if you use it as a night light. So I dropped two stars because of that, and I'm not gonna buy it again.

I have gone through several lamp dimmer switches. Some are very cheaply made. The tiny wire that connects the switch to the wall plug typically breaks with use. But this Dewenwils dimmer is made different and I think it will last longer. It is very easy to use— just attach the lamp cord and plug it into the wall outlet. Use the slider to turn on the lamp and set to any level of brightness. The cord is long enough to bring the slider close for easy access. Great for any lamp. Perfect for bedside lamp that you have to get up to reach the switch. Good product.

Worked perfectly for my project ! Just make sure that ur light bulbs are dimmable

THIS IS SUCH A NO-BRAINER !SO, SO SIMPLE.JUST PLUG THE LAMP PLUG INTO THIS , THEN PLUG THE NEW PLUG IN TO YOUR WALL PLUG-IN - DONE AND DONE!IT GIVES ME EXACTLY WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR.I CAN TURN THE LAMP ON AND OFF AND DIM IT TO WHATEVER LEVEL I WANT USING THE LITTLE SLIDING LIGHT SWITCH.WE TRIED A CLAPPER AND IT WAS KIND OF CUTE - WITH NO HELP FROM US - IT TURNED ON THE LAMP AS IT WAS GETTING DARK OUTSIDE, BUT ONLY RESPONDED TO CLAPPING SOUNDS IF WE WERE STANDING AND CLAPPING RIGHT CLOSE TO THE TOP OF THE LAMP. THAT DEFEATED THE PURPOSE FOR HAVING IT.I'M REALLY GLAD WE CONTINUED TO SEARCH. THIS IS WORTH EVERY PENNY!

Worked fine for about a month. Cannot set the slide switch at a particular spot. Not great control over setting a level of brightness. Wouldn't buy it again or recommend.

Just plug it in and it works just like I hoped it would

Did not work for any light bulb. Incandescent or LED. Intermittent connection at first, then nothing. Tried different lamps and bulbs to be sure. Sadly the Amazon retun window closed, so I am SOTL on this one. Pretty cheap, purchased many other similar dimmers without any problems. One can tell this is very cheaply made.
