Great product.
Provides intense cold for a few minutes, then it sort of mellows out after that. It only provides a very mild cold after ten minutes, but since the skin is already super chilled, by keeping it on a full 20 minutes, it provides a full therapeutic session. My skin is still cold to the touch when I take it off after 20 minutes so I know it worked the full amount. The beads provide some flexibility, so that even when frozen, you can wrap it around the limb that needs therapy. It stays in place nicely, even when moving around, thanks to the wide Velcro strap. That's what makes it super convenient.....you can give yourself therapy and still do other things. I have been using it twice a day, about 3 days a week. As long as the strap stays attached over the longer run, I'll be very happy with the purchase.

Very flexible due to nice design of Velcro fastner and interior flexible chambers made of tiny beads - works great!
This is a great "freeze wrap" that I use for my ankle. It is large enough to wrap all the way around my ankle, and with the Velcro fastener you can wrap it around however you need to. It would work fine for anything from a wrist to a thigh. The interior is made of thousands of tiny beads, which allows it to "freeze" but NOT be a solid hunk of ice that is not flexible. Even storing it in the freezer is much easier; can lay it flat for a fast freeze, or roll it up in a ball if space is tight and stick it on the freezer door. The coldness lasts for about 20 minutes, and it takes about an hour for it to freeze back up. Again, this is a fantastic cold therapy wrap - highly recommended due to relatively low price, comfort, and flexibility!

Great for what it does...provides heat and cold to wrists and round surfaces. straps securely in place and protects wrist.
Purchased two of these to treat a sprained wrist.... and have been using them for about two weeks now. They fit well around the arm or wrist. The velco strap holds it securely in place. I'm a little ambiguous about what myexpectations were. Put it in the freezer and it will get cold in about 30 minutes. However it gets very cold at first andthen lasts for about 20 minutes. ( which is a good time for an ice pack ). Unlike plastic ice bags, the cold does notfreeze your skin ( ice burn )...As far as heating... place it in the microwave for 30 seconds and it gets too hot to wrap around the wrist so I just laidit lightly over the wrist at first and then strapped it in place as the heat became more manageable. This gets HOT.What I really liked about this wrist strap is that it provides a CUSHION for the injured hand. The gel packs provide a softcushion that protects against smacking or hitting the wrist and it keeps the wrist fairly stable... not as good as a stabilizerbut nice for keyboarding on the computer.Sometimes you need heat for longer periods and for larger surfaces like the whole arm.. This does not take the placeof a large heating pad but it great for wrists and ankles and hands where it can be wrapped around to heat or cool theentire round surface.

20 minutes of cold, perfect for your wrist, ankle, or forehead.
As anyone with a strain, sprain, tear, what have you, will attest, these things feel AMAZING!No joke, they feel great. As to the complaints about the loss of cold after five minutes, they obviously didn't use a clock. I left an ice pack in the freezer for about an hour, then put the pack on my wrist at 8:18, then, I decided, instead of timing 20 minutes out and basing my opinion on that. I decided to check the time when I felt like the pack was no longer cold. Now that is subjective, but let's be honest, no one with even sixth grade science level knowledge about heat transfer, would expect an ice pack to be the same temperature 20 at room temp from straight out of the freezer....let alone in contact with something 98.6 degrees for 20 minutes. That's just plain dumb..... Your body heat alone immediately starts to raise the temp, obviously right? So ok, 8:18, I waited until it didn't feel cold, it felt cool, just no longer cold. The time, 8:39.That, to me, is 20 minutes of cold.Newsflash to the people complaining about it not staying "ice" cold, any longer than 20 minutes.Any longer than 20 minutes and you run the very real risk of frostbite...Google it, 20 minutes is perfect.I couldn't be happier with these ice packs, I even bought two so I could leave both in the freezer and rotate them not right after the other, but so I would always have one I knew would be ice cold so I could wear one, then an hour or two later, put a fresh one on, like that...Totally worth it imo. Also, I read a review that said the ice pack and elastic band were separate making it difficult to apply. Not the case in my experience. Both ice packs had the elastic band actually sewn on to one end.Fit for me was perfect. With a fabric ruler, my wrist measures 7 1/2 inches, but you can use a piece of paper, wrap it around your wrist, mark where it meets with a pen, than measure with a ruler if you don't have a fabric ruler. Or print one out, ahh google....Anyway, so far so good, no leaking beads, my wrist feels better than a sack full of awesome.

Perfect cold pack until it leaked all over my pillowcase
This cold pack has been used multiple times in my household of athletes. It may be about two years old - it's hard to say, since I've purchased many different versions of these Therapearl packs over the years. We hever heated them, and store them all in the door of our freezer. My husband was using it on his elevated ankel last night. He thought the pack was perfet for the purpose - comfortalbe, easily fit him, and was cold enough without needing a cloth between his skin and th pack. After it came to room temp, he realized it had leaked on the pillowcase and our bed coverlet beneath it. Hopefully the blue will come out in the wash!Anyway, I'm here looking for replacement, but am going to replace it with a gel pack with a thicker exterior/fabric-like material instead of this thin plastic beaded version. The moveable beads are great for forming to various bony body parts that need relief, but sadly the plastic housing is not made to last. I can't imagine how it is meant to handle being heated, since I would assume heat would break the plastic down more than simply living in the freezer.
