Travel distances made care more difficult, but Peacebunny Cottage was much closer and bigger.Safety for the rabbits and the young volunteers and supporters was important and became a key reason for the dream of Peacebunny Island. But that is not an easy dream to turn into reality. Ownership and use restrictions, flooding, predictors, trespassers, shelter, restrooms, transportation, drinking water, and training facilities are all part of the development plans. Raising the money and legal processes and liability insurance were challenges. But who can tell a fuzzy love bunny "NO!"? Things happen and keep on happening.This is the first book by Caleb, but the story is not done yet. This book is available today in ebook, hardback, and Audible versions. The 100% of the profits go to Caleb's nonprofit organization for preserving the bunnies and the land, and to take them where needed, such as school shooting sites. This is such a blessing of a project and achange to the world to fix it that it all began with and 8 year old boy. He is double that now and has hundreds of volunteers. What an incredible story. I’ve volunteered in rabbit rescue for years and have rabbits of my own. One thing that has always bothered me while working in rescue is how easy it is to become cynical of other human beings. You start to question whether there really is goodness in the world and to distrust people. I found Caleb’s writing so inspiring because he never lets the hardships he witnesses or goes through personally to cloud his judgment of people. His story is only partially about the rabbits. It’s also about trusting in God and in the goodness and inherent value of humanity. And it’s about bringing joy and hope to a hurting world. I genuinely believe that the world would be a better place with more people like Caleb in it.

I first heard of Caleb and Peacebunny Island in a People magazine article. I immediately bought the book because I wanted to help support a young person with a great cause. The fact that I am also from the twin cities and love bunnies helped. Although I’m not as religious as this young person, I have a lot of respect for his faith and how it helps guide him. There are some wonderful life lessons in this book about preserving, forgiveness and love. I have recently retired from my career and have been seeking out ways to do more giving back. Caleb is an inspiration to this 64 yo and it was refreshing to read a feel good book during these difficult times. I highly recommend this book!

A friend recommended this book to me and I loved it. Caleb Smith began his Peacebunny journey when he was 7 and as accomplished more in the last 8 or 9 years than many do in a lifetime. The book introduces you to his furry companions who will make you laugh and want to spend a few minutes snuggling with one of them. He talks about his amusing encounter with Dr. Ruth, how he and his rabbits helped comfort victims after the Sandy Hook and Parkland school shootings, and how he bought an island that he is using to train his comfort rabbits. This books is a great read for adults and kids alike.

Peacebunny Island is an amazing gift to us, and Caleb Smith is an amazing young man. This journal shows us that when we have a heart for rabbits and humans as well as the love of our parents anything is possible. Caleb has a big heart for rabbits and the great things rabbits can do for people through their presence and kindness. As you read this book, your heart will fill with love for the rabbits, the drive Caleb has to help both rabbits and people, and his parents for their support in Caleb’s endeavor. Caleb is wise beyond his years. Great read.
