Colombian Supremo Unroasted Green Coffee Beans 5 lb bag

Have purchased from these guys for a couple years, and has been a good product until now. The last bag of yirgacheffe was just off. Density was 0.607 (g/mL) for starters, but seems like a mix of about half very low density beans and half closer to normal. Doesn't roast the same, and taste is off. Wrote the company and was basically chastised for noticing. Found another source.

This coffee is of a poor quality. My wife and I have been using Yirgacheffe Ethiopian Coffee for over ten years, and I've never seen coffee this bad. As soon as we opened the package, the coffee looked dusty and the bag smelled strange. It is my hope this is one time mistake and I hope the seller get this message. We need this coffee. My wife always wants to buy Ethiopian coffee.

This is a great tasting coffee. it has a smooth taste. Not bitter. I made a medium roast and dark roast with it. Both taste great. I also made an espresso with it. The espresso was nice. I will say there wasn't a great amount of crema but there wasn't a great amount of oil when dark roasting neither. It's a nice coffee to drink anytime of the day with a mild flavor on medium roast or has a little bite if you darken the roast.

I believe this coffee was very old. 1. produced little to no oil no matter the roast(used fire method). 2. After roasting, resting and grinding produced little CO2 and little swell after pour over no matter the roast. And 3. Had no floral flavor notes no matter the roast. Marquis Beverage was dismissive and not helpful when I called them. The "master" roaster stated he didn't know anything (at least honest) about fire roasting and only knew temperature settings for large scale commercial air roasters. Set it and forget it.I still felt that I was probably messing up some way and consulted multiple blogs, vines and videos, my technique was sound. I consulted two local roasters, one air one fire. They concurred, no technique problem. After 5 days and 10-12 test roasts I gave up and returned for a refund to Amazon. Marquis didn't even suggest as a last ditch effort.

I tried several different roast profiles with this, and was never able to get a decent cup. Tasted metallic, no matter the roast, age, etc. I'm thinking the terrior was more arid lowland, with a hint of old tires.

I've been a home roaster for several years now and have had good and bad beans from various sources. However, even the worst beans I have had made better coffee than any pre-roasted. The package arrived promptly, but the bag was split open, with beans all in the box. So Amazon gets two stars for their packing.I did not like the way this coffee tasted when I roasted it in a hot-air roaster - but it really shined when I roasted them over a burner. I will by these again.

I like to roast and boil my own coffee. This Ethiopian coffee is so tasty when you drink it.
