Excellent hinges, well made, tight tolerances, use care with screws!
Excellent quality, thick hinges, well machined, nice finish. The screw head finish matches the hinge.I read many reviews and one of the biggest complaints I saw are that the screws can break. That is true, even the steel screws. The real issue is installer error, not product quality.I purposely ordered steel hinges with steel screws because small brass screws can snap like twigs in hardwood unless you have absolutely perfect pilot holes. If you insist on brass, drill pilot holes first and then use the same size steel screw to set the thread pitch and size and then carefully use the brass screws with a lubricant like soap or the product pictured.I still managed to break a steel screw even when pre-drilling a pilot hole with a #3 vix bit and using a wood sliding compound on the screws. I changed to a #5 Vix bit and then used a regular drill bit to deepen the hole. I was working with 100+ year old walnut which was like rock. The cabinet that I replaced the hinges on had cheesy, paper thin brass hinges. You can see the original cheap brass hinges next to the new nickel hinges in one photo. I was concerned the door would fall off due to age and the poor original hinge quality. If you don’t know what a Vix bit is, Google it and find out. I used a #5 Vix but the screws were a bit longer than the Vix pilot holes. After the Vix bit pilot hole which centers a drill bit on a tapered hinge screw hole, I used a standard drill bit and drilled deeper into the 100 year old walnut. I used furniture sliding compound on the screws. (bar soap will work in a pinch)I carefully tested the screws in the pilot holes by using a hand screwdriver. DO NOT use a power drill driver! Use a hand held Phillips screwdriver and go slow on every screw!Without the proper pilot holes and techniques, you will break a screw in hardwood. Once I got the pilot hole processed figured out, I had no problems. The new hinges look and function great. Hope that helps!

Superb hinges; God-awful screws
These are beautiful hinges! Extremely well made. But whatever you do, do not, under any circumstance, use the screws that come in the box. For all I know, they're just made from chromed lard. Even after drilling a slightly undersized hole and waxing the first screw, the head broke off when the screw was only halfway in. And I wasn't even needing to use much torque. In fact, I didn't even know the head twisted almost entirely off at first because I was being so careful. After about 20 minutes of delicate work with a couple of different pliers, I was able to get the screw out without marring my cabinet door. I then bought a pack of proper screws at the hardware store. All that said, these are fantastic hinges and I would buy them again. And I have bought more. But there is no reason at all to keep the screws. I wouldn't use them for any job ever. Seriously, just throw them away so you don't accidentally try to use them for another job later.

Hinges okay but screws not
The hinges were of decent quality but the screws supplied were terrible. The heads broke off of 3 even with drilling pilot holes and manually screwing them in my cabinet. Created a lot of extra work to extract them, fill in the holes and redrill. I learned my lesson and am using different screws than supplied.

Great value, quality hardware
This is a real hinge. As far as I can tell, the knuckle is formed and then drilled out to accept the pin, rather than just being formed into a “tubular” shape that is oversized enough that the pin can fit into it. Drilling the knuckle is the best way to make a hinge, and the difference is huge! These are better than anything you can buy at your local hardware store. These are better than a lot of hinges I’ve bought from Rockler or Lee Valley. After installing them you will just open and close the door for fun because these hinges operate so smoothly. Totally worth the price.

They sent the wrong hinges-- twice
They sent the wrong hinges-- two times. It appears that they have a numbering/label glitch where 83020-005 is the number for these hinges AND some sort of spring loaded screen door hinge. If you enjoy wasting your time driving to the UPS store, then these are the hinges for you.On the other hand, -- in the past, the times that we have received the correct hinges, they are exceptionally nice hinges. Because they can't seem to get their inventory sorted, we have had to switch brands, completely.

Good Hinge, cheap Phillips head screws
The Hinges are heavy and well-made, they look great. But, the Phillips head screws are a non-starter. How can you add a nice hinge with cheap looking screws? It is like making fine furniture with pocket holes.

Excellent quality and appearance
The media could not be loaded. BEAUTIFUL chrome hinges. They look AND feel very high-end, because they are very shiny and have a good solid weight to them. They function very well and are smooth. We redid this piece of furniture so hung them as the previous hinges were done (I say this because I think how I hung them is not usually how they’re done). Very happy with the purchase. Delivered prime and quickly too! note- we drilled pilot holes before screwing in the screws to be safe and that did fine. We wanted to make sure to use the screws that came with them bc it matched the finish well and in our case would be seen.

Mismatched sets
I ordered two sets of these hinges for a built in cabinet. Received two non-matching sets of hinges. Each pair had a slightly different finish and one pair was slightly smaller than the other. Will not order again.

Lovely Finish
Beautifully finished but maybe a bit pricey.

Half order received
We ordered 6 sets of these hinges and have only received 3 with no communication regarding the anticipated arrival of the remainder. Of the three that were received, one set came in a different box and has a slightly different finish than the other two. That said, it is only noticeable really when they are side by side and won’t make a significant difference when mounted on our light shutter screens. The quality of these hinges is very good and the sizes are as described.

Nice hinges but come with bad screws
The hinges are nice but the screws are of terrible quality. More than one snapped off with just hand-tightening. The hinges are nice and seem of good quality, smooth action. Use different screws and they're good.
