Still A Great Buy In Locks -
Have been using this brand for many years. It's the original New York lock. The Segal is the best buy in these types of locks because they still use bronze and brass for the bodies and turning levers. This is important because the cheaper models use zinc/zamak type pot metal and in time, they crack or get loose. This slop can create problems like poor or no locking, or in extreme cases a near permanently locked door that will require forcing by a locksmith. The cylinder that comes with the lock is very decent quality machining wise, etc.... but a middle of the road one security wise. You can retrofit with most high security cylinders (ASSA, Medeco, Abloy, Multlock, Schlage Primus, etc.....) easily though. The big thing about these types of locks is that they resist crowbar and door spreading attacks really well. Paired with a standard deadbolt, you'll be be more secure lockwise than 99% of your neighbors. They also look really nice on older homes in my opinion.Installation is a little harder than a standard deadbolt, but not very hard. It will require some cutting/slotting of the moldings though. If you want one of these locks, get a Segal, you'll be happy with it :)!
