General Pipe Cleaners R-3NKH 3-Feet Economy Closet Auger

I tried to use a plunger and liquid plumer/dramo multiple times and got nowhere, I used this thing two times, the first just putting in the toilet and it helped a bit then the second time really pushing all the way down and twisting and unclogged the toilet like magic, I have no idea why I did not know of this before, seems like this should be a standard, forget plungers!

Used to clear clog on toilet.product had problem with length , would not push through far enough to fully clear clog . Also started to come apart . So, discarded and used another toilet auger i had that was longer and more strongly built.

I’m gonna get real here folks. That’s a turd in the picture.Let me preface this by saying- this thing works. I have two teenaged boys and our normal household plunger just couldn’t keep up. When all three toilets in the house were clogged, I ordered this thing. I got it about an hour ago and all my toilets are working again. But not without complete disgust on my part.First of all, I didn’t know how to use it and the thing slid around the bowl and splashed poo water on me. Yuck.Once I figured it out, I unclogged the first toilet in no time. But then I was stuck with what can only be described as a pearl of poop within the swirly ball thing on the end. Seeing as how most of my clogs are #2 based, I am not looking forward to having a souvenir after every plunge. For that I’m giving this 4 stars.Works as advertised, but leaves much to be desired.Update June 2020: I was randomly watching Home Improvement (with Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor) the other night and a guest on his show unclogged a drain with a retriever. Guys, this thing is meant to be used in a DRAIN, to pull out whatever you have stuck in there... NOT to clean out a clogged toilet. Facepalm.

I'm a single mom with two teenage boys in an apartment with wimpy toilets. I'm an expert with a plunger but I finally was bested by a clog that survived my best efforts. I was nervous about using this, but it turned out to be the best thing ever. It came in a 4 foot tall box, and it was packaged neatly in a 2nd sturdy box inside. It's about 3 feet tall and is slightly different than the product photo, the handle is a little different, but it's essentially the same and is heavier and sturdier than I expected. Using it was easy after watching a couple of YouTube videos, and it partially cleared the clog the first time (the water in the bowl drained out but when I flushed again it was still slow), and fully cleared it the second time. My clog was just waste and toilet paper (presumably) and it didn't bring anything back up with it when I retracted it from the toilet. It was much easier than I expected. I gave it a good clean in the shower when I was done (I don't have an outside faucet) and disinfected the toilet, shower and floor. After it dries I'll store it in its box in a closet. I definitely don't regret this purchase.

I read the reviews before I bought it so, to me, it was a bit of a gamble and I knew that I may have to call a plumber anyway. However, it worked very easily and quickly.

great!! toilet was plugged-plunger wouldnt work so i ordered this. was all ready to have a new septic put in at a cost of 6000 when this arrived. less than 1 minute, pop-out comes a tooth brush. wow, saved me a new septic(as mine is outdated). toilet flushes like a dream-yes will someday need new septic, but thanks to this, not now. so easy to use. recommend sooooooooo highly. now i am off to solve the mistery of a toothbrush in toilet, lol

Does not go in the toilet completely because the snake is not secured to the handling tube. Trying to get it in the toilet was an exercise in futility. Also it does not have a plastic handle on the metal tube to grip while turning the crank, as depicted in the photograph that came with the unit. Further it scratches the toilet and leaves black streaks that won't come off with commercial bowl cleaners. Being returned.

packaging was bad, the label totally covered the instructions. I could not figure out how to keep the augur "bundled" after use.Also very hard to clean. But it did clear the drains.

DESIGN EXCELLENT. Unfortunately this doesn't work as well as we had hoped. Again, you lose some and win some.

This is a strong product and the reinforced section to get it to the u bend is very effective. I should have got the 6 foot version, because the blockage in an outside drain was just beyond the reach of the 3 foot one. However, it was easy to get into the drain and would have cleared a closer blockage. I know the 6 ft version would have worked. I used a longer thinner version from a different mfr to actually clear the pipe but took the idea of the plastic guide and inserted it through a length of plastic waterpipe, which helped, but a lot more fiddly than the Monument product.
