The New Ukrainian Cookbook

My family was impressed with this collection of recipes, including some for favorites our immigrant Grandma used to make for us decades ago. While we knew how to make some of them, others were lost to time, so with this book, we can now recreate some of those lost favorites for special occasions or even every day uses. The collection is nicely compiled and edited. The hand drawings are nice, many readers would prefer photos of the actual recipes, but this doesn't particularly trouble me since I already know what the various items should look like when they are done.

Hi. I received this book from using a generous Amazon g/c (among other things) and am bowled over by the myriad choices. 8 different mouthwatering variations of the national dish Borshch, encyclopedic array of beet dishes/apps/sides, lip smacking zakusky(apps)..and the desserts and breads! This will keep me busy on a cold winter afternoon or a sweltering summer day. I can taste the cold blueberry soup now.

I'm happy with the selection of recipes, as a newbie to Ukrainian cuisine. There is a lot to work with here, and I will be able to build on the recipes here.

excellent-like the colors inside-one color for recipe, another 4 cultural, historical, or cooking info--very well written and laid out-like the various variations for dishes-explaining why ingredients in southern ukraine differ from western or other regions-no problem w/substitutions-LOVE IT--there is no recipe written in stone-variations or what's available--bravo--i have many ukr. cookbooks-this goes to the head of my list--thank you TEAM CORONA--diakyu--

My boyfriend is Ukrainian and really misses the food his mother used to make. He says that these recipes are great and take him back to times gone by.

This cookbook contains a wonderful combination of traditional and more up-to-date recipes. Well written and easy to follow! Highly recommended.

A beatifully produced cookery book containing all the favourite Ukrainian recipes.Many traditional recipes but some with a modern twist or ingredients.Good for those who want to make Ukrainian food or to learn how to cook it.A very good purchase.

I found this cook book enjoyable just to read. The recipes are similar to those I grew up with, but updated for more modern techniques.

This is a good book but it would benefit from photos of what the food should look like once cooked.

This is a nice cookbook with some great recipes but there are hundreds of blank spaces and it seems they forgot most of the ‘charming illustrations’ in the book description. Could it be that the supplier is selling off a duff print run to unsuspecting Amazon customers?
