Grand Prix - James Garner -2-Disc Special Edition [DVD] [1966]

This is a great movie showing a snapshot of the 1960's Grand Prix scene, although the cars are dated by today's standards the race track sequences are still thrilling with many famous faces appearing in the background. The story line is set around one season of formula one racing at a time when safety standards were much lower. Loosely based around (but unstated) the British racing driver Jim Clark. There is a double theme. One, the travelling circus of Formula One races around the circuits of Europe and the other the domestic lives of the Drivers, their wives and Girl friends. The film depicts the race scene fairly accurately and the cast list is a litany of some great stars of the time. There is quite a lot of 'split screen' sequences, much in fashion at the time. Well worth watching and adding to your 1960's period films collection.
