Outdoor Research Women's Crocodile Gaiters

These work great! They don’t slip down and are nicely adjustable. Kept my feet dry.

I love these gaiters. Used them on a hike in snow about 6 inches deep and they worked perfectly. Definitely made well.

I recently completed coast-coast walk in UK. I wore these for 13 of the 16 days I walked. I wore them even when the weather was perfect as the ground we were walking on was boggy, dusty and we trampled through the moors. They have earned the 5 start rating as there were 3 days when they were tested to the max. Of these, 2 days I hiked in snow; 1 day there was 4 inches of it. And the 3rd day was a rainy day. The proof these worked was when I got to the room and took of the clothes. The portion of the trousers till just below the knees and the part of the shoe which these covered were the only dry things on my legs. I am 5'4 and they came just below the knees. I was wearing black trousers and it did not look like I was wearing gaiters until you got close to me. Easy to put them on even standing up. The hook on the shoe laces stayed even when I pulled my feet with force out of the snow. They got dirty with the boggy mud but it did not stick for long and I have not yet cleaned them and they look like new.Another really good thing is that they are light weight and it did not feel like I was wearing them and easy to fold and put away. This was a last minute purchase...for the just in case the weather does not cooperate. It is one of the best purchases made for this trip and other upcoming hiking trip.

I don't know how I ever lived without these things! I used these this winter for hiking through the woods in snow, and they did a fantastic job of keeping the snow out of my boots without interfering with traction. I first ordered them in size Medium based on my shoe size 8 1/2 but they seemed gigantic around my legs. I sent them back and exchanged for size Small. Even the smalls are a tad large around my calves, so I think the size of your legs should be given more consideration that your shoe size when deciding what size to order. They are maybe an inch shorter than I would have liked (since my legs are kind of long) but they work well enough. I will plan to buy another pair as back up if I ever seem them on sale.

These gaiters seem to be bomb-proof. I've used these several times now showshoeing in snow up to a couple of feet deep and haven't managed to get a bit of snow in my shoes. And that's been using low-top Gore-tex hiking shoes--not even boots--the whole time. They are very easy to put on and adjust. I will say I feel they run a bit large. I wear size 11.5 shoes and my hiking shoes, thought not boots, are still pretty bulky. The large fits with ease and I know they would go over a big pair of boots if I needed them to. I feel like I would be swimming in the XL at this size. A lot of the fit does depend on your calf size though. I have relatively slender calves. If you have big calves, you may consider sizing up/going true to size based on provided size chart. I'd size down if you're at the lower end of the scale though and don't have big calves.

Many other gaiters are too big for women with small shoe size. This one is perfect for me. The only thing is that I wish they don't sewn in the plastic straps. We all know the plastic straps are going to break and fail. I don't mind replacing it with some bank lines but there isn't a hole to loop it through, so no easy fix on the trail.

These are well made and run true to size. Buckles and Velcro are sturdy.

These gaiters effectively protect my legs from snow, rain, tiny rocks, dust, bugs, oils from poisonous plants... They look nice and are easy to put on. These are not the most lightweight gaiters available (there are gaiters made with Cuben fiber if you want ultralight) but they don't feel like much weight at all for me as a small woman. The material is sturdy and gives confidence. I started using them a few months ago for hikes, and now they are among my standard gears for hiking and backpacking. I also use them when walking on the street during heavy rain.

Great fit, easy to put on. I’ve worn them on muddy trails, and through small creeks - they perform well in keeping my hiking boots dry.
