Useful for lowering Water Bills and finding leaks!
A great idea. Easy. No plumbing required.I am a bit slow in figuring out some Wi-Fi issues, but this seller contacted me immediately and had my unit up and running in no time.I am doing laundry all day so it will take me a few days or maybe a week to determine if we have a water leak as our neighbor did discover and had his entire backyard supply line replumbed. While that was likely very expensive, it would have been much less than the eventual water bills that continue to accumulate. A great idea and a great system that looks like it will be a substantial help to our water budget. Two days and yes, we had a substantial water leak and within four days the leaks have been repaired, and this Flume unit will have paid for itself in less than a week by money saved on water bills.

Everything has changed...
I have just ordered my 3rd Flume in five years. While I love everything about this device when it works (enough to make me keep buying), if I have issues in the next 2 years with this one, I am done.I had a Flume when they first came out. Everything worked great for a little over a year (just until the warranty was up) and then it started acting up, disconnecting from the bridge over and over, and not notifying me until I opened the app and noticed things weren't working. The Flume folks talked me into a Flume 2 - it'll connect better and more consistently!Bought a Flume 2. Everything worked GREAT, until I had to replace the batteries for the first time, a little over a year after buying it. Now the thing again disconnects from the Bridge often, not notifying me. How hard would it be for them to add a notification into the app a) the moment that the sensor shows as disconnected? and b) when it hasn't logged water for some time and you are NOT in vacation mode. Seems like something that would be part of the deal already. They used to have this great chat feature where you could chat with people nearly real-time to get your water sensor disconnected. They removed that in favor of email. It's been 36 hours since I asked for help via email, no response. Finally, my water sensor seemed hard down. I have rebooted the bridge, removed and reinstalled the batteries into my sensor, and set the sensor RIGHT NEXT TO THE BRIDGE. But it will not connect. Keeps showing as disconnected in the app (and I am yet to receive a notification on it). I can't get anyone to email me back, so I go for my 3rd Flume. This will be the last one.

Amazing option
I have a slab leak. While rerouting the pipes I'm looking for a water usage monitor and remote shut-off valve. I have doubts about a battery-driven monitor without plumbing. But it ends up being my best option.First, if I can't monitor the main meter, I have to buy 3 monitors, one for the house and 2 for irrigation. I can change that but it requires a lot of work - digging. My meter is underground on the public sidewalk. It looks dark and small in there and I didn't think the Flume will fit inside. But if somebody can plumb something in there, there must be plenty of space for the Flume. The other thing is meter compatibility. I have a Neptune without clear markings so it may be the one that is not compatible. But I think as long as you don't have a too new one, it should be compatible. The installation is easy. You just need to tie the Flume on the side of the meter with a thick rubber band. I had two potential problems. When the app tries to connect with my wifi, an error shows up telling me to retry. It doesn't surprise me as my wifi 6 has the same SSID for both 2.5 and 5 GHz. I might have tapped retry and they the app jumps to calibration without confirming that my wifi is connected. I tried to confirm before putting my Flume down the rabbit hole. There's no way to go back on the app. There's no wifi indicator. I tried to add a new device but it wasn't allowed because all the devices have a serial number. So I just put the Flume next to the meter and it worked. The 2nd potential problem is that the app tells me that the Flume moved more than once. It hasn't.I could have calibrated the app with the readings on the meter. But I'm impressed enough. I think the Flume is detecting the rotation of the red dial, which is exactly what the meter does to measure water flow. If a metal or a magnet rotates, it will disrupt the electromagnetic field around it. So without calibrating, I believe the Flume will be accurate, maybe occasionally missed a turn.First, it's reassuring that my slab leak isn't deteriorating into a measurable amount on the meter. When the app says zero, the red dial doesn't move and I don't have to pay for the leak.I reseeded the lawn and I was using a lot of water since to let the grass grow. But the Flume tells me I'm using over 300 gal of water a day when the sprinklers are on. I checked and all leaks are very minor. I have the incentive to change the watering program. And recently I removed the flow limiter on my showers. The app tells me that it's about a quarter for a long shower. The usage report is on every hour. So you can know how much water you use for the washing machine, dishwasher, and maybe flushing if you plan enough. Now for the remote shut-off, instead of an expensive valve, I found a mechanical "hand" to turn off the quarter valve for about $40. I tried and it should work. But it doesn't fit my very old valve because it is very bulky - the valve body is much thicker than the pipe. Any newer valves will fit.
