Beautiful white pitcher.
I hade one like that before in purple top color that I passed on to my daughter. And I was looking for the same model for myself. Luckily, I found one which was the last one from this seller.I am so happy I got it. It came well packed, in excellent condition, easy to use and it’s working great. What called my attention besides the quality of the item, was how well it was packaged. It was neatly done. Great job!

Big and heavy when full
Even though it is big and heavy when full, so worth not having to fill it a couple times a day. You can fill a number of water glasses at one time. I just keep it by on the counter by the facet and always have it full!

So easy even a 9 year old can use it
I'm not sure why folks are having so many problems. I bought this pitcher and have loved it since day 1. I'm getting ready to order another one for my mother-in-law. I have two boys 9 and 13 and both of them use it with no problems at all. The lid stays on fine. We have no leaks. It pours smoothly and the water tastes great!**Update**I figured out why folks are having problems with the lid. The other day I was in a rush and didn't have time to wait for the water to completely filter through before I poured. So I attempted to pour a glass while it was still full in the top and bam! The top came off spilling water everywhere. Clearly that is user error. I'm sure if the manufacturers made the top tight enough for it not to come off while water was in the top, then people would be complaining about how hard the top is to take off. So they can't win. I prefer the top just the way it is. My advice is if you don't like waiting for the water to filter, then just make sure you never let the pitcher get empty.

Summary – This is our first water pitcher and we are very pleased so far
This is a review of the Brita 42556 Grand Pitcher.Summary – This is our first water pitcher and we are very pleased so far. Our normal water is drinkable, however, has a chlorine type of taste to it. My wife said it reminded her of a pool water taste. (Not sure why should drink pool water to know….) Anyway, this filtration is excellent and leaves us with water just as the bottled water we buy in bulk. Expensive yes, but hoping it lasts long to justify the price. As with all my reviews, I will update this review should the pitcher develop any issues with ongoing use.NotesMake sure you install the cartridge correctly and follow directions for running some water through this before using. Inside of the white pitcher insert is a tube that the filter slides into. Inside the tube you will see a fin, this fin aligns with a single long groove on the cartridge. If you find black specs when you first setup, remember this is normal. Also, have a few carbon pieces in the top from the filter does not affect the filtration and bottom water quality. One filter is noted to be able to filter up to 40 gallons or last approx. 2 months pending on your usage.ProsThis is working as expected. I am able to pour a full to empty picture getting all the water out without any problems such as splashing, lid popping off, filter coming loose, etc. I saw some reviews with these being issues and wondered if I would end up seeing the same. So far so good.Has a nice capacity of 10 cups (8oz each). This is just shy of a gallon which is 16 cups.BPA Free.Well built in my opinion. Mine feels solid, rubber handle feels good and there does not seem anything flimsy.Easy to clean. I like the clear and white design. Shows anything which may indicate it is time to clean the picture early. Clear bottom makes it easy to see water levels quickly.Has a water filter sensor to allow you a quick reminder when it is time to replace the filter. You get a green light when good, yellow light at around 32 gallons of use or 6 weeks of use and a red light when you reach 40 gallons or 2 months of use. To reset when you put in a new filter, hold down reset button firmly until a green light is on and let go.The filters can be purchased for a reasonable to cheap price if you are buying several. Some others have filters which cost much more.ConsThe filtration process is very slow. It was so slow I questioned if the process stopped. Not for dishwasher use.Expensive.

Love it
I was looking for a large water / filter pitcher and looked over the various brands and decided on this one. Because of some of the poorer reviews along with the great reviews, I wasn't sure what to expect. I followed the directions precisely to get going with filtering the waster and find that I'm loving this pitcher. It's just what I needed to make the well water tasting good. I haven't experienced any difficulty with the filter popping loose or the cover falling off when pouring. I usually keep my thumb on the cover when pouring anyway but did try it without using my thumb b/c I was curious if there would be a problem. None. If the manufacturer revised the design to include a locking mechanism for the lid, that would be good to eliminate this concern. Even so, it works just great. The water does filter slowly from the upper chamber to the lower one, but that's not a problem for me. I just put it in the fridge while it's filtering. I'm very happy with this purchase and highly recommend it.

Missing filters
The pitcher is exactly what I expected however, it was supposed to come with 2 filters, which it did not. This has happened in the past and it is really irritating and disappointing.

Large Brita jug with some nice features
I wanted a larger Brita pitcher to replace my 5cup "Slim" pitcher that I've been using for years. This is the largest pitcher I could find. I was nervous ordering it because of some of the reviews about leaking lids, defective filter replacement light, and flimsy spout. I've now been using the filter for approximately 3 months. The "change filter" light recently turned red, right about when it should have. I love the pitcher but would like to "reply" to some of the common complaints:LEAKING LID - The upper reservoir (the part above the filter) has about half the capacity of the filtered water area. This means that from empty, you can fill it three times after letting the water filter each time. What I've found is that if there is water in the upper reservoir and I try and pour a glass, water tends to spill out from the upper reservoir. For me, this isn't a concern - I only fill the upper reservoir when the filtered water area gets down to about halfway. I then refill and put in the fridge... 5 minutes later, and the filtered water area is full. If you are constantly pouring water, I can see this being very annoying. For a couple or small family, I don't see it as an issue.FILTER REPLACEMENT LIGHT - There is no sticky plastic thing that you manually reset each time you change the filter. Instead, the filler lid senses when it has been opened (and left open for more than a few seconds). A green LED blinks when you refill. Once the preset number of fills has been done, a red LED turns on when you open the filler lid. So far, so good. Honestly, if it quit working, I wouldn't care... I can always set a calendar (or phone) alarm every few months to prompt me to change the filter.FLIMSY SPOUT COVER - There is a flimsy cover that sits over the spout when you're not pouring. I'm not sure what you could accidentally bang it on to knock it off, but it does look flimsy. But really, who cares? My last Brita jug didn't even have a cover.A few other comments:- This is very convenient to refill - instead of removing the whole lid (as with my previous Brita), a small section flips up- This jug gets heavy when completely full (upper reservoir + filtered water section)- The new filters work very well keeping the black carbon beads out of sightOverall, I'm glad I bought this jug despite some negative reviews on here.

Great filter. I've owned a few different models over the years. Fits great on my counter, and in my fridge.PROS:-Modern and sleek design-Makes the water taste GREAT- I drink LOTS of water, and the size is perfect. Not too big that it can't fit in the fridge and not too small that I'm constantly refilling.CONS:-the filter change indicator at the top doesn't really measure anything other than time or flaps. So it's inaccurate.

Gets heavy when filled
I needed a new pitcher and one where the spot had lid. So I bought this one. I thought the monitoring option was neat, however I don’t feel that it works as intended. It blinks once in awhile whenever I fill this pitcher up.The water tastes fine there is no plastic taste. The only thing that concerns me is that I don’t believe this pitcher is for everyone. When you fill it up it ends up having some weight to it. Anyone not having strong wrists or forearms may struggle with the weight of a full pitcher. The handle is not designed to compensate for the weight distribution which is a design flaw.Aside from this flaw it filters well. It’s a good purchase for the most part.

Arrived intact and easy to use
I was worried a container of that size made of a brittle material would not arrive intact, but it did and it is working just fine. Quite big and typically have to top the top reservoir twice in order to have the full filtered capacity ready. It is not an issue at all, just a note that might help others in their decision. I like its aspect, it is a piece of plastic but looks nice on the counter top and the water now tastes better, I mean it no longer tastes bad.I'm happy with my purchase.
