Better than the alternatives
To be fair this would be a 4-star review if there was a better range of choices available. Nobody sells a 5-star card shuffler for under $175.Pros:Cheaper, quieter, and better at shuffling cards than basic battery powered models. The ghastly decal(s) were not attached so I was able to leave them off and toss them out effortlessly.Mine came with two spare hand crank handles and two decks of cheap cards.Adequate for double deck shuffling.Cons:The hand crank handles connect flimsily and might be easily broken if forced. Mine are all intact and two mounted under the device so they will not get lost easily. There are two nubs on outside corners of each card loading platform. If you drop the cards in outside edge first, they will keep the cards from the feed wheels. I might file them off.The cards occasionally jam against each other. If you are cranking the handle furiously this could damage cards or the shuffler. Just use the machine gently and back up a quarter turn before resuming if the cards jam.Final Thoughts:This device is FAR FAR SUPERIOR to any inexpensive battery powered model I have experience with. I have owned three of such battery devices. If you have around $200 available for a reliable shuffler this might be your second or third choice. In the sub $30 market this is the best option I am aware of.BTW I also threw out the silly plastic lower card tray. You might value that tray, but I always discard them.

Works great!
This manual shuffler actually works pretty well. You can’t go super fast or the cards get jammed, but just don’t go too quickly and it shuffles great! The handle slips out easily, but also not a big deal. I prefer not to have a battery operated shuffler, plus it’s kinda fun to shuffle manually!

Even though it’s plastic, it holds up and works really well
If you have arthritis, this makes shuffling cards easy

Simple hand powered shuffler.
Works well as long as you keep the sides stacked evenly, and the cards are firm. Once the edges get soft it tends to jam.It is exactly as described. Would buy again. When they say 2 decks, they mean it. It will not do more. After about 300 shuffles it is done. The wheels no longer grip the cards and the socket for the handle is loose. While it is relatively inexpensive, replacing it every 3 weeks or so will get expensive. If you play quite a bit then you will wear it out in a hurry.Sorry I have to change my rating to a three. Durability is not good.

Must Have for Serious Card Players
Battery operated shufflers are always failing, as the battery runs out. Hand crank is easy to use and never need a battery. In this world of everything requiring batteries, this one outlasts them all. Old school wins here.

Crank handle poorly designed
Kids love manual crank more than touching an electric button. That's why I bought it, but the handle was always falling out from the beginning, causing much frustration. It also easily jams up, and after about three dozen uses, the hand crank broke. Without the crank, it is garbage.

Works for Sleeved US Game Cards
I was a little worried about this thing based on the cheapness, the fact that it came with THREE crank handles, and seeing demos where it was a little less than perfect. The goofy vegas stickers are completely optional (as are the two decks of generic playing cards included) which is great because I intended to use this to shuffle my 'Hero Quest' game cards. Yes, at first I tested only my homemade cards and they were fine then used the antique cards, which are protected by 'Monster' US Board game sleeves (57x89mm; 100 micron thickness, gloss finish, standard American size). I looked carefully and using a moderate speed there are no marks or damage, scuffing or anything on the cards (whew!). I am not going to test them with the 'naked' vintage cards though. If you turn the crank too slowly the cards get jammed, but you can just reverse and they go back in their places for another try. The runners that grab the cards are made of some soft rubber coated wheels (not sure if that will be rubbing off in a few years, we'll see).Sometimes the process isn't smooth, as one side will 'finish first' before the other by a few cards (I am shuffling a deck of about 60 cards at a time, split into two piles), making it not a perfect shuffle. Still I am much more content using this than a battery powered shuffler. Two spare cranks are stored on the underside of the unit and the third one came in a plastic bag. The whole unit is hard plastic and pretty light weight with the little transparent door/drawer to catch the cards. It does a pretty good job shuffling except for the occasional hiccup. I never thought it was going to damage anything so it does what I wanted it to do! As far as durability, we'll see.CAUTION: It IS possible to make light scratches (more like scuffs) on your cards IF you get a card jam and "force it" through instead of stopping... backtracking with the crank... and then gentling getting the rythm going again. Videos I've seen show ordinary poker cards going through smoothly... my cards have sleeves which increase the thickness. Two of them got very faint scuff lines when I tried to force my way through a jam. I won't do that again. But just keep that in mind when operating! The plastic guide blades are smooth but other than trying to put some kind of cloth covering on them (which might increase jams) you just have to be gentle. A manual shuffler like this should prevent this situation than an automatic so I'm still glad I got it.
