"Festival of the Boats" It was the end of a marvelous family vacation. We ended our journey at the Granville Island Festival of the Boats in Vancouver, B.C, Canada. With my Nikon in hand, I made my way through the rows of beautiful wooden boats to capture the images I was hoping to paint. The day was perfect: 80 degrees and a light wind. This scene grabbed my attention immediately and I hunkered down to take this image. It was a time to celebrate! Celebrate the beauty of this magnificent city; the wood of the old boats, polished bright like new; the old and new juxtapositioning of the modern city from behind. It took another year before I could take the time to tell the story of this magical moment, but looking at the picture helped me remember and celebrate again. My watercolor paints came out, the sound of the seagulls rang out, and I was able to recapture what I felt one beautiful summer day. This original watercolor painting comes in a standard sized 22 x 28 bone white professional grade mat, ready for framing.
