New Gillette
Got this because bought the wrong refills at Costco. Tried it out with the new refills and was pleasantly impressed. Really smooth and easy shave.

New Gillette technology definitely delivers!
First and foremost, this review is completely unbiased. Unlike many of the reviews you see, I DID NOT receive this item for free in exchange for a "honest review." I paid $9.47 for the razor and one cartridge.Shaving is one of the things that guys either love or hate. It's a ritual that most of us do whether it's every day or a month. I recently saw a commercial for the Gillette Fusion Proshield Razor. As most of you know, Gillette comes out with a new shaving innovation every couple of years or so (it feels like every six months!). Is it necessary? I don't particularly think so. Some of their updates have been questionable. I don't think we need motorized versions but that's just me. Do they have a genius marketing team? Yes. I'm not sure about other men but I keep on buying them. The name "Proshield" refers to the lubricating strips that are on both sides of the blade. They're intended to "shield from irritation." The new blades come in two different versions, Proshield and Proshield Chill. The difference is that the Chill version offers "Cooling Technology for a refreshing sensation during your shave." I ordered both of them but I received Proshield Chill first so that's the one I'm reviewing. I'll add an update to this, or write another review, comparing the two when I receive the regular one.I was genuinely excited to try out the new improvements that they made. I used the Dorco Pace 6 Plus- Six Blade Razor System with Trimmer - Value Pack (10 Cartridges + 1 Handle) for about a year. The price point makes it hard to beat when compared to what Gillette refills cost. It was a decent shave but it would pull sometimes.I also didn't like the placement of trimmer on the reverse side of the blade. It was a little too far recessed for my liking. So I switched back to Gillette and I immediately noticed the difference. It feels like they use much higher quality blades. I'm not going to lie and tell you that I know the difference between the two and how they're differently manufactured but I do know that the Gillette was a better, smoother shave. The first thing you notice about the razor is that it looks identical to their other offerings. In my opinion, they should do something to differentiate the packaging and handle better. In fact, the handle IS the same one offered on the other Fusion models. It would be nice if they changed it up a little bit just so I feel like I'm getting something new and improved even if I'm really not! But anyway, that has little to do with how it performs. Let me just say that the only place where I get a close shave is under my neck. I trim my beard area with Panasonic Body and Beard Trimmer, Hair Clipper, Men's, Cordless with 3 Comb Attachments and and 39 Adjustable Trim Settings, Wet/Dry Convenience, ER-GB80-S (which, by the way, is fantastic. You can read my review for it on my profile) on the lowest setting to leave just a little bit of stubble. So finally, after buzzing my head and trimming my stubble (I really have no business calling it a beard) I was ready to put this to the test. I lathered up with foam and started making a few passes. I'm going to be honest here, I really did notice a difference. The blades glided over my skin with ease leaving behind a thin layer of lubrication. I didn't feel it pull on any hairs either. It was a very enjoyable experience. Mind you, I didn't use aftershave when I was finished because I wanted to see if I could notice the difference with the additional lubrication strip (and I did). I could do with out the "Chill." I feel that's more of a gimmick. The aftershave that I normally use provides me with all the cooling sensation that I need.Obviously, since I just got this product, I can't speak on the longevity of the cartridge. However, Gillette's website claims they "deliver up to a month of shaves, based on three to four uses a week." So based on a 4 week month, you're looking at 12-16 uses. Personally, I let my face determine when I need to change blades. When it starts to nick and cut, that's when it's time to switch. The Gillette Fusion Proshield is definitely one of the better improvements that the brand has made over the years. I feel like they really nailed it this time. I would be perfectly happy if this was the last blade that I ever used (it won't be because I'll buy the update when Gillette comes out with it). If you've been using one of the cheaper razors out there, it's time to make the switch. Do your face a favor. I think you'll be surprised and won't mind spending the extra money for a higher quality product.I hope this review helped! If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

It is generally a good razor
The razor blades are compatible with many other Gillette razors, which makes using using these blades with an old razor and using this razor with old blades convenient. The cooling strip definitely makes your face feel cool, at least until it wears out. I have found these blades have impressive durability as well, as they can be used continuously for quite a while before having to change blades (though some parts do wear out before the blades do). Eventually, the blades do seem to dull with repeated usage. The grip on the handle is comfortable. The way it is designed allows for some give and mobility with the razor, which makes shaving along a curved part of one's face or neck easier. Overall, this razor is good quality.

The blades provide a very close comfortable shave. I take my hat off to Gillette
The product works very well. I personally think the razor does what it is designed to do adequately more importantly the review should be about the blades. The blades provide a very close comfortable shave. I take my hat off to Gillette, as the company has done a masterful job providing an excellent shave at probably the highest cost per shave, creating excellent value for shareholders. The company's go to market strategy is to be admired and really is by many a company who strive to follow their strategy. Capitalism at its best. I rate the razor/blades at 5 out of 5 but the strategy a 10. Great work. I am a quadruple customer unfortunately not a shareholder.

You Get What You Pay for!
Best shave I have had. I have a medium to think beard that I have to shave almost daily. This is the best I've used thus far. Tried the shave club options and that left my face a mess. This is clean, smooth, and comfortable. The flex ball is a bit gimmicky but does work. As always love the straight trimmer on the top. Paired with Gillette shaving cream it's the best I've experienced although it is expensive but you get what you pay for I have learned.

Happy Husband
My husband is really happy with his new Proshield Chill razor. He had an older Fusion but I upgraded him and he said it felt really great. He uses shave cream but said he could tell the difference the extra moisture strip gives. He likes the chill effect as well. He said it leaves his face with a cool sensation. He will give me longevity updates as time goes on.

nice marketing but terrible product
Proshield? yeah right, it didn't add any extra protection and the new and "innovative" part of the razor starts to shed after one use. This razor is being returned and I will stick with my other razors, nice marketing but terrible product.

and the swivel technology seems primarily useless as the only time it would be in use ...
Slick design, somewhat difficult packaging as well as lack of any "cooling" sensation. Compared to other multi-bladed razors (at a lower price point), the blades lubricating ends do not provide much of any shaving relief, the blades are harsh on the skin (with proper lubrication), and the swivel technology seems primarily useless as the only time it would be in use is with awkward angling with my own personal use.I've never used a Gillette razor, so I cannot compare this to their others, but I wouldn't recommend this razor with my own experience with it.
