Customer service merits star upgrade.
Update: emailed the company because the clamp did not work on my deep desk edge. Thy sent be a solid ring to use as base at no charge. Wow. I am impressed by their addressing my concern. They even tossed in a mini lighted magnifier which my wife loves. 5 StarsQuality of construction is very good. Light choices are nice and it does a great job lighting small objects with a ring of light. I like being able to run it from a USB port or AC outlet. Magnification is OK, not as strong as I expected but for a large lense you can work on a fist sized object and see everything. They provide a screw clamp bracket - which probably works fine if you desk is only 1 1/2 inches thick but my office type furniture is closer to 3 inches. I would have bought a weighted base if one was offered. The company material says email them with issues - just sent them a note. This is not designed to heavy duty office standards, but sure exceeds what you would expect for home use. Screws, springs, square tube construction , 4.4 inch lense all look good. They exceeded my expectations.I would say this would be a great light for someone with hobbies that needs good lighting and magnification. Maybe folks who tie flies, or doing soldering. Great for seeing a splinter.I am please with the product and expect to have many years of service. I might be giving one away for Christmas to some of my hard to buy for son-in-laws. The box it comes in is well made and good for shipping, just a brown clamshell type box with the money spend on quality not marketing material on the outside.

Perfect!
I needed direct light to work on my sculptures and this is perfect. I can move the light in close, change the direction, etc. And when I need to get in super close to paint tiny details, the magnifying glass is going to come in handy. Really happy with it right out of the box. Easier than easy set-up.

Great lighting at a great price point
This lamp magnifier is great for its price point. Very well made of quality metal parts with the exception of the clamp and some knobs which are plastic. I will go out on a limb and say that I'm sure this will last a long time and is definitely not a 'toy'.I purchased this to replace an Ottlite magnifier floor lamp. The Ottlight was at least 5 years old and I loved it until the upper bendable arm broke where it was joined to the main shaft stand. Unfortunately, the most vulnerable part and actually the very part that would endure the most stress due to being moved many times a day was made from plastic. If it had been made of metal I would still have it today since the lamp was still in great working order. The Lancosc lens was not as clear as the Ottlight. Let me clarify that. The image under the Lancosc lens would become distorted the further away the sightline is from the center of the lens. This does not happen with the Ottlight lens at all. One thing I truly missed in the Lancosc was the super magnification spot that I use frequently. One feature the Lancosc lamp has is the choice levels of 3 light spectrums and also brightness. Choices the Ottlight does not have. BUT the light does not come close to covering as much area as the Ottlight. Whereas the Ottlight is more of a floodlight illuminating a large area with a bright light as opposed to the Lancosc that is a narrow SPOT light only.Seriously though, one really can't go wrong purchasing the Lancosc clamp-on magnifier lamp at a price point 4 to 5 times less than the Ottlight. The Ottlight I had now retails for about $140. So there is really no comparison and the Lancosc which fit anyone's budget. I'm happy I bought it.

Compact light
Not to big that the light is not in the way to work under. Nice adjustments for what type of light and the brightness

Works great
Bought for my dad, as he’s in his fifties and needs reading glasses and recently picked up his old hobby of building model cars. He says it works great and is very useful for light and magnification.

Really Fantastic Device - Very Useful!
I got this for reading and for doing beadwork. This thing is great! The only suggestion I could make to make it better is if it also swiveled at the part that holds the lens ring...

Knobs to hold the position dont work
Overall it does what it needs too, but I find it hard to get it to stay where I need it. Tightening down the tension knobs does little to keep it from moving when you get it into position.
