If you know what is the Hokkaido horse oil balm, you know it is thick (and expensive!). The good stuff is like frozen vaseline and much thicker (almost like shoe cream). You have to work with the oil/balm so that it will be absorbed into your skin. Real horse oil balm (at the correct concentration) will lock the moisture in and restore your cracked skin like magic. Therefore, perfect for your skin to withstand the Hokkaido sub-zero winter!Now about this product. I bought this to try, and in the hope of finding a cheaper alternative to the brand I originally bought from Hokkaido (running low). That exact brand of horse oil goes for ~$60 on AMZN.PRO: It is lightly and pleasantly scented with cherry blossom fragrance and smells nice. It is cheaper than the real 'horse oil balm'.CON: This horse oil is fairly diluted, therefore, spread very easily (like any regular hand lotion). Not the 'pure' real stuff.So depending on what you are looking for, this may be exactly what you are looking for: say, just a regular hand lotion. But it is NOT the 'authentic' horse oil balm.

It works better than Aquafor (or other petroleum based formulations), and even was better than several Shea Butter formulations I had tried from various providers.

I have sensitive skin and struggle to find a lotion that I can use. This one is perfect for me! Just a little dab after getting out of the shower and my skin is no longer dry. It wasn't overnight, but the change is there! I use shea and cocoa butter as well, but they leave a greasy film that I don't want to get on my sheets at night but this one is super light and isn't greasy at all. This is now my go-to face lotion at night, and I will definitely be purchasing this again!

Bought a tube of this while in Japan on holiday last year. Liked the fact that it goes on silky, smooth and non-greasy. The awards label in both the package bought in Japan and the photo shown on the Amazon website was white with blue lettering, but the awards label on the 3 packages delivered was white with brown lettering. Probably just different batches from the factory - couldn't feel any difference in the product, however.
