Soil MasterML1240 Moisture, Light & pH Soil Test Meter, Green

For the price of this tool being short of $10, I think this little device works pretty well, after testing about three to 5 different beds and garden locations on my property. Wasn't a disappointment really, you know for the price. The moisture setting I believe is most helpful to you and reliable, as the pH readier seems to be reliable as well. The pH reader is not the best scale reader as you have to gauge in between 0.1-0.9 in between levels for a "round-about estimate" guage, but this tool will do the trick to get the idea where your soil may be at. The Light switch does work but its little more say: "rinky dinky" meaning its pretty much gonna give you 0-100 Dark Reading, Maybe a 500 reading, or a 2,000 Light reading. But I did get it to read 550, 250 in some shaded areas, its just not as helpful. After buying this device I have the urge to want to have more precision in the pH Levels, Ill be buying additional digial pH tester, but if you dont really care for the ultimate, precise, precision this Light, pH Soil, Moisture Meter will do the trick. (Apologize photo is not in focus. Taken from a laptop Chromebook, cheap camera quality. As you can see my Lemon tree was deep watered four days ago and its reading for the picture at a reading of moist "4.9/5", about to go in a"3 reading" soon which is a dry reading - so that's pretty accurate). So this tool does work!

I don't understand how this thing works, but I'm impressed that it nonetheless does so without batteries. DISCLAIMER: I do not have super accurate alternatives to measure whether or not it's being super accurate, but at least my own human senses tell me that the "Light" and "Moisture" aspects of it are working great. My indoor plants don't have a great deal of light, and their soil dries out frequently here - meanwhile my outdoor garden has been making the most of our rainy season this year and gets great reads on the moisture and light meters pretty much all the time. :P

This works great, as I've had plants sensitive to too much moisture down below the "dry" surface.I'm still learning to use the pH feature.Be careful not to twist it while inserting and removing, as the two prongs could become damaged.

The silver rod broke away from the reader after about a month of use. It needs to be reinforced at the attachment area as it's a weak point. Before that I felt it was a 5 and a real help. Now I'll look for a more durable one.

My mother had one of these when I was growing up and it came in handy. I'm prone to over watering my poor plants so it's wonderful having a device that can tell me when it's actually time to water them. I strongly recommend this brand over the knockoffs you can find on Amazon.

Moisture readings are pretty accurate, so it the Light Source, but not sure of the Ph Balance.My biggest problem is with trying to read the meter as the face is small, 3 measurements stacked on top of each other, and font is small, which is hard to read.Also have to remember to check switch location, as it will move easily when handling. Other than that, I am happy with the purchase.

ReviewMeta adjusts the rating down from 4.0 to 2.2/5 after removing fake reviews for the item, I wish I checked this before buying. I should have listened to the other bad reviews as should you. The item arrived filthy dirty and had to be cleaned off before even trying to get it out of the package. Multiple paper towels turned all black wiping down this "new" product which felt like it sat in a warehouse forever getting junk spilled on it more than it simply being returned and used since it was evenly dirty all over. Even if it arrived not gross to touch it doesn't even actually function. The light and PH sensors are fully broken and don't do anything while the moisture detector will at least wiggle the needle it absolutely is inaccurate and cannot be used. Nothing I put it in could get the moisture reading out of the red section at 3/10 on their 1-10 scale, even putting it into water and fully soaked dirt could reach a 3 max making it useless. If a replacement arrived fully functional I would not trust the accuracy and would end up getting something else to replace it anyways which is why I got a refund and had no interest in another bad product.
