Internal Precision Snap Ring Pliers

I bought these because I already had the smaller size and they are by far the best snap ring pliers I have used. These are a bit longer, giving a bit more access and leverage. There is no flex in this tool at all! The joint is solid. The tips are solid and the handles stay in perfect alignment under pressure. By the way, I use these to rebuild transfer cases for Jeeps. When I was using high quality name brand snap ring pliers, they always flexed or even broke the tips. If you do heavy duty work, buy these! Do be sure you buy the set you need - these are NOT one tool does everything. This model is specifically for internal snap rings. They make other models for external snap rings and keeper rings (no holes).

The name says it all. If you have used anything knipex then you will be satisfied. They fill sturdy.

the tip size is NOT mentioned on the box that i can see. it is about 2.25mm or 3/32. pricy for what they do. but this works great for me.

I purchased both this forged version and the similar sized but machined 44 11 J3 version. These pliers are excellent and very stout. The day before, while servicing my Bosch demolition hammer, I managed to remove its internal retaining ring with cheap pliers and screw drivers, but couldn't reinstall it. Ordered these two knipex pliers for next day delivery. This forged version easily replaced the internal retaining ring, but when I attempted to remove it again, the thickness of this forged version was just barely too large to reach the ring holes. Tried the machined version listed above, which is very slightly thinner, but still extremely strong and well made. It fit perfect and was able to remove and also reinstall the clip easily. Keeping the machined version and returning the forged version. Both excellent though.

I am working on a 97 BMW E36 M3 and the snap ring holding in the rear bearing is quite large/substantial at 90 mm or 3.5 inches. None of the snap ring pliers from the local auto parts or discount tool store would open wide enough to remove this ring and were actually quite flimsy. Without any more options to remove the large snap ring, I decided to order this Knipex 4811J3. When the tool arrived I was impressed at how hefty and substantial it is. It was the perfect size and had a great feel to it. Removing the snap ring with the Knipex pliers was effortless. Although a little pricey, I would say the tool is worth it. I've heard others say that when a tool does a job that no other tool could have accomplished, the tool has paid for itself. This was totally true with this Knipex tool.

Hard to imagine how it could be better. Visibly high quality. A professional-level tool.

Worked good to get snap ring out of my 05 f250 front hubs. Tried 5-6 other pliers and this one was the one that got it out.

Being made in Germany I had high hopes for this tool and was surprised at the difficulty encountered when using it to remove the outer c-ring (1.875" diameter) from a procon pump. It took several attempts with a steady hand and required the pump be clamped in a vise. The inner c-ring (1.25" diameter) was impossible to remove with this tool. Not only were the pins too large but there wasn't enough clearance between the tool and pump housing. I resorted to a very pointy needle nose pliers which I should have tried before purchasing this tool. It does say 40-100mm on the tool which I'm guessing is the diameter of the c-ring to be removed. Definitely a very well made tool but a bit too large in this application.
