The media could not be loaded.  While the steam locomotive run nearly flawlessly, the track is horrible. While it is a cool idea, the execution of it was poor. I highly recommend you pick up some Bachman EZ track (you’ll also need a dc power supply and a piece of ez terminal track)

I didn’t like the magnetic track

What a disappointment, I'm recuperating from surgery and wanted something to do. I thought buying a Lionel set would be a step up. Sadly, not the case. Right out of the box, wheels had already fallen off half the rolling stock. After replacing them, they would not stay in. I set up the track on the dining room table; not exactly a risky proposition. The cars would not stay connected, and they would derail from the track. The power was intermittent; this behavior seemed to be stemming from the power adapter and/or MagneLock track connections. Overall, I am shocked and disappointed by the poor quality of this set. Sorry I have to say that.

Do not buy this set if you plan on running the train on the track it comes with. The magnet tracks are total garbage.

The wheels have broken off the train and it is hard to get onto the track. Very frustrating want to return it!

LOOKS GREAT, DOES NOT WORK,

I was looking for a train set to put around the tree like when I was a kid, found this set and have learned a lot since buying it. It works well, just make sure the magnetic tracks are on a consistent surface to lessen derails and keep your passengers alive. ;)It is also based on an actual train! Lots of videos about it on YT.My only wish was that it had volume control, but I can recommend it as long as you have a flat area to lay it out.
