These lights are awesome!! We recently purchased a new-to-us home and the previous owner apparently looooved CFL - I mean seriously, everywhere you can put a CFL, they put a CFL. Indoors, outdoors, in floods, in cans, in pendants, in chandeliers... Everywhere... Perfectly great lighting fixtures ruined with crappy light bulbs.... Anyway, I been on a mission to replace ALL light bulbs in this house with LED's now that you can actually find pretty good deals.Fast forward about a week and we eventually got to the under cabinet lighting and while those weren't CFL, it was just a mess under there. Two, maybe, three bulbs were correct, but most of them were oversized bulbs which required the the previous owners to take out the UV filter and/or the housing cover to make them fit, etc.It basically just looked like crap...Since I didn't realize there were small G8 LED lighting fixtures out there, I did my 7th trip to Home Depot that week and purchased 10 halogens of the correct size so at least I'd get some uniformity back in the light output. Thankfully I didn't install the halogens immediately because I decided to see if there were LED's for these under counter puck lighting fixtures - and found these - which were apparently are priced really well at 4 for $25. I read the reviews, looked hard at the images, looked hard at the fixtures and pulled the trigger on 4 sets of 4 (I mathed that one badly, I only needed 3 sets, but now I have spares for maybe desk lamp or something down the road!!!).I am very very impressed with these things! Compared to the installed halogens, these LED's put out a nice clean white - but I was really impressed with the light output and spread of this light. Nice and wide and the counter is just gleaming everywhere. The halogen bulbs exposed all the reflective back paneling in the fixture which is why they focused the light on the counter. The ceramics on these LED lights minimize that effect as it covers most of the reflective surface so the LED itself can spread its light. And the reflection of the LED pack on the granite looks pretty cool too.I can see how someone might think the leads are a bit short - especially when you compare them to the halogen leads. But for me, they inserted correctly, inserted firmly and held in place just fine without support. The most important part for me was that the whole light fit inside the puck area nice and clean so I could put the puck cover back on with the filter. I am probably limiting the lifespan of these by trapping the heat, but I like having the filter. These are nowhere nears as hot as halogens, but they do put off a little heat - still very touchable and you won't burn your flesh off, but it is heat nonetheless. I have extras so I am not sweating it. :)

Always On LED's
Overall this is a very nice product. I fits perfectly into the puck lights, has a great light output and is dimmable (though as they repeatedly mention not to the degree of the old halogen bulbs being replaced). It's nice to turn the lights on and not feel heat radiating down from above. But one thing you may be surprised by is if you turn off the light, completely, sometimes a row or two of the LED's stay dimly lit. How is that possible? Well sometimes in homes the circuit may be shared by something to draw a constant stream of power (in my case it was an old home with built into the walls wiring for home security … pre wireless tech). That constant trickle of power even so low is enough to excite the LED's and presto a glow. So you may have hit the off switch .. but there is still a little power flowing. Sometimes you may be able to find and control the source yourself (like a night light that is always on somewhere and turning it off does the trick). Other times may required electrical work to change how the circuit is working (as in since I replaced the old system with a wireless system, I could have had the electrician adjust the outlets allowing this stop the power trickle). Another option is going with a non-dimmable LED (which sort of defeats the purpose of the puck lights to begin with).

Vibrant light and less heat
In short: natural looking, vibrant light, and very much cooler to the touch than the G8 halogen bulb, recommend.I’ve always loved the ambience the halogen puck lights (G8 bulb) created under my kitchen cabinets but couldn’t use them very often due to all the heat they generated. When I recently left them on overnight (accidentally) and melted the lid to my 3 day old $150 blender I was compelled to look for alternatives. Initially I was concerned they wouldn’t look as attractive as the halogen bulbs but I actually prefer the brighter, crisper look of these LED lights. Colors appear more vibrant. The most important requirement (to me) on this LED light purchase was that the lights emitted much less heat and they definitely met my expectations on that score. My estimation would be about 80% cooler than the halogen bulbs. They are warm to the touch but do not burn you (or appliances) and don’t heat up my kitchen.Heads up: the metal prongs on these LED bulbs are a little shorter than the halogen bulbs. When I installed all of the lights, 3 of them didn’t light up at first. I gently tapped & wiggled the unlit bulbs until they all made a connection and then they lit up. No problems at all once a proper connection was made. Some reviewers have mentioned that they flickered or didn’t dim properly, I haven’t had any problems like that but do notice there is a slight difference in light out-put in the medium light setting than with the halogen bulbs. Middle setting now appears a little brighter than before.I did not replace my dimmer with an LED compatible switch, which is recommended but in my case hasn’t been necessary (IMO).I wish I’d bought these sooner. Overall I’d give these 4.5 stars, minus half a star for the initial connection set back due to the shorter prong but I’m rounding up to 5 stars.
