Eddie BravoJiu-Jitsu Unleashed: A Comprehensive Guide to the World's Hottest Martial Arts Discipline

Good book, with a few caveats
First off, if you're looking to really dive into Bravo Jiu-Jitsu, this is not the book to do it. This was Eddie's first foray into the world of writing for martial arts and unfortunately, it shows. The book is very small by the standards of most instructional books and is completely in black and white. While it provides a high level overview of Eddie Bravo Jiu-Jitsu, hitting all the high notes, it doesn't delve into the intricacies of each position the way his later books do. Mastering the Twister and Mastering the Rubber Guard are each full length, high quality (color) publications that provide the level of insight needed to really get beyond the nuts and bolts of Eddie's more famous techniques. My second disclaimer would be this. Eddie Bravo's unique brand of Jiu-Jitsu is really only applicable in the sporting environment. I know a lot of people will probably disagree with me on this point, but it's true. Eddie advocates a lot of great things that will help your overall game (such as training without the Gi, attacking from unorthodox positions, etc.), but if you try to pull rubber guard in a real fight, you're probably going to get your head smashed in.All that being said, this book is GREAT for mid to high level BJJ practitioners looking to learn something new. If nothing else, learning how and when to apply the "lockdown" from half-guard will take your game up a notch immediately. All the great half guard sweeps, the rubber guard, the twister, monkey mount, it's all here, and all explained in good detail. Eddie's a super cool guy, and always looking to push the boundries of the sport and invent something new. This book is basically his version of "Eddie Bravo BJJ for Dummies", and will teach you all his core concepts, methodology, and theory at a glance. As long as you have the right expectations going in, this is a great buy.-MK

Renewed my love of the art!!
Before i start, let me say that i have no affiliation with eddie bravo or anyone from his school, if anything i was kind of anti-Bravo, coming myself from a gracie run school. I have been training on and off now since the first ultimate fight but i have been out of training for the last two years for a couple of reasons, but one being lack of the same luster i had for the art before. Having given that long winded bio, let me say that this is the best money i have ever spent of bjj material in my life. This book has really brought back that old inspiration alot of us had back when Bjj first hit the scene after the 1st UFC. The presentation of material, and the various techniques it presents throughtout the book is excellent. the way the chapters read for each position covered acuately had me do something i havent done with a book on Bjj in a long time; It made me want to read everything in the book. So many of the books now out on Bjj are as dry as a bonegiving you that same feeling of "You've read one, you've read them all!" Bravo keeps you interested not only in his techniques, but also in the stories that lead him to developing each one. Just as a note, most of my training ive done both Gi and no gi training, and have always prefered Gi, so for me to rave about a book thats main point is training with the Gi is alot of the times wrong, says alot. My only hope for this book is that Eddie puts out another one soon. And a personal note to Eddie Bravo: Thank you for helping me find the original love of the sport i thought i had lost forever!

Good book for a Jiu-Jitsu fan
I have been a fan of Jiu-Jitsu for a while, but never got to take a class. So when I decided to take a class, I read this book before going in. It's a fairly easy read, but some parts I definitely had to read over a quite a few times. I would recommend having someone to practice with while going through this book, because reading about it and doing it are 2 different things. I definitely benefited from reading this book before my first class and I had a head start on some of the other new students.

great book by eddie bravo
Not much to say. He's one of the greatest BJJ practitioner and instructor out there, the only minor flaws in this book are just:1) need a lot of flexibelity and basic understanding of BJJ moves2) not as great detail as Victory Belt Publisher in MA booksbut the person himself and the technics are awesome and also he's very "generous" in his teaching. Good job, Bravo, I really wish he still competing, though, againts the best in the worlds, such as Marcello Garcia, etc, so once again he proves that he's still great in the nowadays super tough competition , not just in teaching.ThanksAndy

Great book
Great book with a lot of information. I had his other book "Mastering the Rubber Guard" some time ago but I lost it. I think this book "unleashed" has an over all view of Eddie Bravo style it cover a little bit of everything(black and white pictures) while " Mastering the Rubber Guard" was most in detail of his rubber guard(color pictures and more details). Still a great book if you want to learn about 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu.

The book is just a taste of 10th planets current system, but very clear and illuminating.
This was a good read. Very interesting history for Mr. Bravo. I really got it to explore twister side control. Mission accomplished.

Eddie Bravo = Genius
Mr Bravo gets a lot of negative comments from other Jiu jitsu experts but his system is NO JOKE! His specialized form of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu, is the bar for no-gi jiu jitsu. Perfect for everything, especially for those who would like to venture into mma.

Interesting book on rubber guard and other positions
Quite a well written book. It includes many pictures of moves as well as a written explanation. There are around different 50 positions and moves explained in a spider web format. Meaning each move has a path on what move to use next depending on what they do.It's quite a useful book that's helped me learn the rubber guard game

The book smells bad
Some weird chemical smell! I won't return the book because I have to pay 12 euros to send it back. Disgusting experience to read this book.

Really Good No-Gi BJJ Book
Not a book for a beginner, but if you know what you're doing already then this is a great book to get some tips to advance your game. Been trying out some of the techniques & they are top notch - although you need to be insanely flexible to pull some of them off :)
