Love. Works. Looks Cute.
We are boiled egg eaters. I saw these and thought the kids would get a kick out of eating shaped eggs. The are sturdy hard plastic,They snap together easily and they also seperate at the hinge. They wash up easily. The instructions are in Japanese but basically, you peel the eggs while still warm and then lock in the mold.I then throw them in cold water and let chill.. They unmold perfectly and can see all the details. If the eggs are a bit big you'll have seams which can just be trimmed off.TIPS: The molds work much better when the eggs are not overcooked and also using extra large eggs. I have used large eggs and they work OK. Anything less than a large eggs will not fill the molds completely and jumbos are too big.Overall, I really really love these. I bought another set for a friend and some for my nieces and nephew.

Fun, Cute, Well made egg mold
I can't believe that I found these egg molds! I love the idea of Japanese Bento and I'm always fascinated by the cute delicious look of it. Ever since I became a fan of Shin Chan, I wanted to try the bento myself. I've seen them having different food shaped into animal figures and decorated with seaweed and so on.This egg mold presented me the opportunity to try for myself! And I love them. They're cute, durable, well made magic boxes. :))) First of all, the size of egg matters. I'm mentioning this because I often purchase medium size eggs which is not very popular in most of the grocery stores. But I like smaller eggs...Anyway, medium size eggs are a little small to make the perfect mold. So use large eggs would be a better option since the eggs would be large enough to cover every detail of the molds. Then, place them in the cold water for at least 15 minutes is very important to hold the figures for longer time. I knew it's suggested in the instruction. Still, sometimes when I was in a hurry I couldn't wait for that long. And the eggs won't hold the figure very long. Very often, my husband has no idea the egg in his bento is supposed to be a fish or a car since they only present themselves as smooth eggs......So.......From my experience, keep them in the cold water for at least 15 minutes is very important!Enjoy the fun meal with this egg mold!

So easy a 4 yo can do it...
ok - the title is technically a lie b/c you really don't want your 4 yo boiling water and making boiled eggs, but once they're peeled, give to the 4 yo and they can put into the mold and close it on their own.eggs - XL - small eggs won't fill the moldboil eggs (i add a splash of vinegar and a dash of salt once the water boils - not that it matters) i leave the pot as is, i don't prop the eggs, i don't shake the pan arounddrain pot - fill with cold waterpeel eggs in water (boiled eggs are kinda hot - who knew)give to childchild puts into moldlet it sit in mold for a few minutes (clean up kitchen)my molds came out fine w/o having to soak it in cold water for 10 minutesplanning on making these for my kiddos next snack dayFYI - my kid won't eat hard boiled eggs and after we made this, he grabbed 4 and ran away to eat themThe bear mold is a little bigger so I'll to fiddle around with it to make the bear w/ears (for now, i'm eating a hardboiled egg-bear w/o ears - FWP). The bunny - super cute, super easy, the fish/car - also fantastic.

Absolutely Amazing
These little egg molds are absolutely amazing and well worth the low price. My kids love eating hard boiled eggs already. These make them even more fun and somehow also more delicious. The molds are easy to use and also very quick. I suggest buying the large or jumbo eggs. Even if the eggs seem a little too big for the mold, just close them up gently. The white parts that might ooze out can be easily and cleanly wiped off. I have made 4-6 at a time and then save them in the refrigerator for the kids' lunches through out the week.

Cute and they work well.
These are super cute and sturdy, I have used them for both eggs and rice now and they are a ton of fun for kids. And mommy's, I may be gettin' old but a car shaped egg "driving" around my plate still makes me giggle! These are easy to clean, they snap apart at the hinge so if you do use them for rice they clean up nicely, no gunk in the hinges on these cuties! The process for making the eggs takes a bit of time, but it's fun and the end result is worth it. And for the price, you can't beat these.

OK molds but a bit of work
These molds are cute but rather finicky. A jumbo egg is way too big, a large is too small. Extra large seems to be the key size here, at least for me. You Must peel the egg while it is still hot and jam it into the mold. You have to manipulate the egg a bit to fill out the mold and then squish it closed. Sometimes the white splits and the yolk shows. It takes at least an hour in the fridge to cool and set the egg. It does pop out easily from the mold and they are cute. The molds clean easily with a sponge I've never put them in the dishwasher. Both pieces of the mold do separate so it's best to clamp the mold closed before putting it away so you don't have to hunt for both pieces. My 4 1/2 year old son is more interested in playing with the molds than he is in easting the shaped eggs.

Adorable, and they work great!
I just got them today, and I love them! The plastic seems durable, and they really work! I agree with the other reviewers: you need really big eggs to make it work well (I used size large eggs and they did not fill the mold completely - use extra large or jumbo). Instructions are in Japanese! I hard boiled the eggs, peeled them under warm water while still piping hot, dried them and pressed them into the molds and into the fridge for about ten minutes. The picture on the back says you can also float the mold in cold water. The kids absolutely loved opening the mold and finding the shaped eggs!
