Key Matching Instrument, AK90+ Auto Key Programmer V3.19 Match Diagnostic Tool for EWS AK90 KEY-PROG

At first only gave 2 stars but read on and see why I have now edited this review and given 5 stars.It was an easy set up and all looked to be working as I could read keys okay and all was fine untill I tried to read the EWS chip and do a code dump, first off there was no identification as to which way around to place the connector plug (Red dot) found a small arrow pointing forward and also the tell tail notch on the corner with pin one no matter how well I pressed it down it wouldn't make contact.All the pins where clean scratched clean with a sharp knife and then cleaned with a glass fibre pencil for cleaning PCB board then when I still couldn't get a contact a light rub with some P320 sandpaper.Tried ALL FOUR WAYS AROUND but still wouldn't work had to give up and return.Have now reordered a 2nd in a hope the next one will work.....----------------------Edit-----------------------New one arrived the next day and it had the same problem.Still no red dot to show which way around it would go I was trying to line the small arrow under the plug thinking this must point forward and be the correct way after all the corner with the flat edge did sit on the top right corner as shown BUT NO looking at the small picture in the corner when you click the "EWS Picture" button, shows this 90 deg to the left so after lining the arrow to point 90deg to the left I got a nice clean EWS dump.Put my new blank chip in the coil/key inset and it wrote first time, no need to write back to the EWS as once fitted back to the car the first time you start and run the engine it will update the EWS itself I now have 4 working keys for my MIni where I only had the one. So saved hundreds of pounds not going to the main dealer and maybe a couple of hundred not going to a locksmith....Very happy with this purchase and I hope my troubles will help someone, My only complaint is they need to put the red dot on.Another review here says it doesn't bleep when connected.Well I had a look inside and compared to a photo of a genuine AK90+ PCB all the chips and components are there but the buzzer is missing so this is why it doesn't bleep, so if it's a clone, it's a relatively good clone.... I too had problems writing to a chip but found i had been sent the wrong chip, once I had the correct chip it now writes no problems...

This device works, however I suspect that it is not genuine as it does not make any sounds (speaker not installed internally). I have managed to program a couple of new keys with it so saved a few pounds over purchasing from a BMW dealer.

Good tool done job what I needed to do no problems

Does not make connection beeps like it should, and have only had a fail to write chip experience so far.It does however read ews no problem after finding correct way to place on eprom as the arrow does not line up with pin 1. Had to rotate 45° to the right.Will try more chips to see if the coil is faulty. Does read keys but not write them.
