Easy sync, great construction, awesome price
This review is from only 5 minutes with the controller, so take that into consideration (I will certainly update if I deem the controller worthy of less stars). My biggest reason for giving this controller 5 stars right away is the ease of use. Even though its sitting charging right now, the controller came with enough battery power to turn on and use for at least a few minutes (and probably longer). Syncing with my Android phone (LG L90, CyanogenMod 11, Android 4.4.4) was easier than syncing with my Chevy. I turned on the controller, pressed Home+X, the lights on the controller flashed, I selected the MAC address on my phone's bluetooth menu that I figured was the controller, and less than 10 seconds later the controller was paired with my phone.I booted up ePSXe and it recognized the controller right away, and asked if I wanted to use it and remove the on-screen buttons. After selecting yes, I was able to use the controller flawlessly in the game I had loaded (Chrono Cross). All of the buttons worked as they should, with the simplest setup possible. As for the physical controller, it appears to be very well built for a Chinese knock-off Xbox 360-style controller. While a little lighter than a typical 360 controller, it still has plenty of heft and the layout is identical. We'll see how it holds up over time.

looks can be deceiving.
tried for an entire evening to get this to work with iphone / ipad. although it pairs with the ipad / iphone, it can only run games if they are built for icade mode. San Andreas and Tomb Raider both do not recognize this device, even though it is paired properly. Nice looking controller, great size and build, but ultimately a paperweight for anything useful in ios. returning it.

Doesn’t work
I don’t know what it is with Bluetooth controllers on amazon but if you want to save money don’t buy an off brand. Espicially not this one. Received it in the mail with no cord, charged it up and powered it on. After a solid 45 mins. Of stumbling through a guide in horrible English I found the setting to make it discoverable. Connected to it via computer ( tested it with phone and still acted the same) and nothing happened no input at all from the controller. Only two buttons send any signal to the device, the volume up and down buttons. If you plug it in with a cord to a pc it send some signals but only the X and B buttons as well as volume buttons.

Great concept, fair execution
I bought this to go with my phone and emulators to re-live my 8/16/64 bit youth. It pairs well with my phone with Bluetooth and has plenty of buttons for my needs. I like that the phone can be mounted (I have a Samsung S5), but there are several minor issues that kept me from giving 4 or 5 stars1. That cool phone mount comes with a fatal flaw, it doesn't lock into the open position. So when you are doing some pre-bed gaming (I know, I have terrible sleep hygine), you have to be careful or your phone will suddenly tip down onto your thumbs. Ouch2. The buttons are a bit mushy/hard to register. The buttons are not super crisp and I found the analog sticks to be a bit sticky too with some ghost registering of the last direction even when the stick is in the neutral position3. The thumb stick buttons are too easy to press accidentally. Unfortunately this is the exit button for my emulator, so I often close the program when trying to perform tricky back and forth maneuvers.Any one of these would be a minor issue, but all of them together make it sometimes tricky to play retro games, especially NES and SNES games.

An overall fantastic controller
**Introduction:**Before I start, I want to say that I tested this primarily on an LG Optimus G Pro (Android 4.4.2).Now then, to begin, I'm fairly positive I want an Android controller for pretty much the same reasons as everyone. Because I hate blocking the screen using my fingers, I want the kind of precision that only a controller can give, and because I like to play certain games which have a lot of controls making them even less friendly to on-screen controls. Now I did the research and had a lot of choices. Most people recommended using a Sony Sixaxis controller (due to the well known design and general quality) or a Moga due to the software support. However, I ultimately chose the iPega 9021 for a couple of reasons.1) It has a smartphone mount on the top. Even with my giant 5.5” Optimus G Pro, the screen is simply too small to play games at a distance, so the 9021 having this mount is of great importance to me.2) The design is that of an Xbox 360 controller. Personally, I like Sony's PS controller best, but the Xbox is a great choice too. It has enough buttons to meet my needs (yes, I need those L2/R2 buttons) and the size/design/placement of the analog sticks and buttons makes the controller comfortable, familiar, and a pleasure to use. The addition of the multimedia buttons was highly attractive as well.3) Affordability. The iPega 9021 is not in a league of its own; there are a few others bearing similar qualities. For example, the Moga Pro is a great controller and bears quite a resemblance. However, the Moga Pro costs $70 vs the iPega 9021 costing $25. The Moga Pro would probably be a great controller, but I'm betting it's not 180% better than the 9021.So those are the reasons I got the iPega 9021. I bought it, it arrived, and I've been using it for several days. How does it stack up?**Design: Excellent**I said it before: I bought this controller because I really liked the resemblance to an Xbox controller and the inclusion of a mount, but how good is it in the hands? To begin, it really is an Xbox 360 controller in many ways. The colors, appearance, button placement, and etc is all from Microsoft's book. To be detailed, it actually feels lighter than a real 360 controller, but the feeling of the buttons, triggers, and analog sticks are striking. Further, they're the same size, so it fits comfortably in the hands. However, there does appear to be one poor point. The D-Pad feels cheap and doesn't have good ease of use. Honestly, I don't like the real 360 controller's D-Pad much either – it's one of the reasons I prefer Sony's controller – but the 9021's D-Pad feels even worse. It makes this clickety sound when pressed and feels like it's being held by thin fragile plastic. It's rather uncomfortable to press and would probably become a real burden if I was forced to use it extensively.Moving on, the few differences in the 9021 controller lies in four places: a 'Home' button below the Select button, an On/Off switch in the middle at the bottom, a set of multimedia buttons below the A/B/X/Y buttons, and, of course, the phone mount. The On/Off switch is self-explanatory and the 'Home' button is more for miscellaneous use (e.g. pairing the controller through bluetooth) rather than usage as a smartphone home button. The multimedia buttons are designed for, well, multimedia. There are Play/Pause/FF/Rewind/Volume keys and they're small and really out of the way; a really nice addition to the controller. The mount itself is a neat little thing. When not needed, it folds into the middle (over the On/Off switch) and blends into the controller which is a good design. When needed, it flips up and length can be extended using a spring loaded top. The mount can comfortably hold my 5.5” Optimus G Pro phablet and it can stretch even further out. There are holding pads on the bottom and top of the mount which works very well to hold it tight. I tried turning the controller sideway and even upside down, but my phone did not budge.I said it twice already and you can probably guess from my glowing words, but I'm a big fan of this controller's design.**Software and Games: Great, but not perfect**Aside from design, software is the one other thing that can really break a controller. After all, what good is a great design if the controller doesn't work with any games? In this regard, the 9021 also fares very well, but there are things that could be improved.First, lets talk about what software it has. The iPega includes three software that you download from iPega's online storage (they don't have the software in the Play Store for very apparent reasons): Android Gamepad Assistant, BitGames Emulator Games, and BitGames Game Centre.Android Gamepad Assistant: This is the main connective software. After you pair the controller through bluetooth, you also have to pair the controller in AGA in order to properly use it. Once you do the two pairings, though, using the controller is as simple as turning the controller on and switching keyboard input to 'Gamepad Assistant Controller'.BitGames Emulator Games/BitGames Game Centre: Lets you download games for usage with the controller.Pairing and using the controller is simple so long as you follow the included instructions. I did so and, over the following days, I tested the controller primarily with these: Grand Theft Auto III, Dead Trigger 2, FIFA 15, Asphalt 8, and a small sample of other software. The controller did very well.I played GTA3 the most (I was a big fan of the PS2 version) and it did surprisingly well. The game recognized the controller and it worked right off the bat. The buttons are even mapped as if on a real Xbox controller. Most of the other games, which I played to a lesser extent, worked well too. The controls were responsive, mapped well, and worked as expected. However, here's where a bit of annoyingness comes in. It's not iPega's fault, but how well the controller performs seems to depend entirely upon the game and how it is coded. Some games performs PERFECTLY, some games perform well, and some just does it poorly.Asphalt 8, for example, works amazingly well – using it with the 9021 makes it feel like an entirely different game as everything from navigating the menus to even controlling the cars feels as if the game was designed with the 9021 in mind. GTA3 works very well with the 9021 but it has a bit of a sensitivity issue; for example, moving the analog stick a tiny bit while driving could send you completely off the road. DT2, FIFA 15, and some of the other games I played just plain did it poorly due to various issues, e.g. there is input lag, controllable having trouble going back to neutral, game not fully supporting the controller (it requires you to still use touch sometimes), etc.Again, it's not the controller's fault and I can't say I'm really upset by it. For the most part, it works great and only rare is there any crippling problems. Now then, I mentioned that there are some parts of the software that could be improved. What I'm referring to are the multimedia buttons. The problem is that they don't seem to work at all.In games that supports the controller, the media buttons doesn't work. In apps that lets me change the keys, the media buttons doesn't register. Even in actual media apps designed to play music and videos, the buttons doesn't do anything. I connected the buttons to a Windows ultrabook, still doesn't work. After much tinkering and scouring the Internet for information, I'm still left baffled as to how to use these buttons or if they work at all.Which is a shame. Putting my phone in the mount blocks the volume keys, so it would have been nice to use the ones on the controller. It also would have been neat to be able to change music while playing a game. If nothing else, the buttons would have been useful as 'additionals' – that is if the game in question has many possible functions, I could have assigned additional useful functions to the multimedia keys.**Overall: Highly recommended**Despite the poor D-Pad and the useless multimedia buttons, the controller as a whole is just fantastic. The design is great, it works well with games, and the cost is very affordable. Purchasing this thing had left me with no second thoughts and it improved my mobile gaming considerably. In the end, I highly recommend the iPega 9021.Update 09/18/2016:It’s been a while. Since the time I first purchased this controller and tested it out, I have purchased new smartphones even as my gaming habits died down a bit.Well, I got the urge to play some games again which works better with a controller, so I decided to pull out the iPega 9021 again. This time, I tested it with the Nexus 6P (Android 6.0.1).As with the other smartphones I’ve tried this on, the device fits within the mount as well as ever and the control work just as well as they did before. However, two major changes were notable.First is that I no longer needed iPega’s Android Gamepad Assistant software to get the controller to work. Secondly is that the multimedia controls, which I simply couldn’t get to work before, now works perfectly. The previous phone I used, the LG Optimus G Pro, was on Android 4.4.2 and I am now on a much newer Android version, so I assume that, somewhere along the way, Android became fully compatible with the iPega 9021.They’re two small changes, but it makes large difference in ease of use.Smartphones tend to have the volume buttons located on the sides meaning that, when mounted, you can’t reach them. Now that the multimedia buttons work, I can simply change the volume using those keys. As for lack of need for iPega’s AGA software, this is a much bigger difference. Before, I would have to install the software, then when I wanted to use the controller, I had to switch to the iPega ‘keyboard’ in order to get the controller fully compatible. Now I just pair the controller and it automatically works with Android without me having to change anything. Big difference in ease of use!I had recommended this controller before and, with this update, I can only recommend it even more. Definitely one of the better expenditures I’ve had.

The issue I have with this product is that it's ...
The issue I have with this product is that it's avertised as working with iOS, now whilst this is not a "lie" it is highly debatable! Does it connect to an iOS device... yes! However, it will only work with a small number or specific games! I tried it on several of the newer games I play and it wasn't compatible with any for numerous reasons. Oh and it's a tad frustrating that it connects as a keyboard (this may be unavoidable, but is none the less irritating) as if you have the controller connected and then try to do anything involving the keyboard you will spend countless hours wondering what has gone wrong, and maybe even go as far as to restore your device before realising it's the game controller!!!!! So buyers beware!
