Feels and looks like a quality product!
I purchased this helmet for the 2015-16 ski season and was very happy with the upgrade from my old Giro. When trying to decide between helmets, the primary functionality I was looking for was looks, comfort, and audio compatibility.AUDIO COMPATIBILITY:I love jamming to some tunes while riding the powder waves of the mountain. Audio compatibility was a necessity when looking for a new helmet. My prior Giro had wired headphones, and although they worked well, it was generally a pain dealing with all of the cords and plugging in the helmet every time I tried to take it on or off. For this reason I was looking for something that was compatible with the Outdoor Tech Wireless Chips. They are amazing and would definitely advise them. However, with regards to this helmet, they fit very well and were very easy to tell where the buttons would be even with large gloves on. Some reviews had stated that they were a pain to take in and out to charge. I didn't find this to necessarily be true as I would just unzip one end and charge them while they were still in the helmet and this worked great.COMFORT:These were definitely one of the most comfortable helmets that I had tried on in the store. They really seemed like the padding added comfort, but didn't suppress your head so much that it would cause pain after wearing for a full day. The additional vents also kept my head at a very comfortable temperature. I cannot speak to using these in sub 10 degrees Fahrenheit weather yet, but in the hot weather that I skied (30-40), I found them to be very comfortable and never felt over heated.STYLE:Super styling. You will look like a classy act in this helmet. The contoured lines are very snazzy. The green under the vents looks as cool as it does in the pictures. I received a lot of comments about the vents being the cool green they are. I also own Smith googles, and as expected, they seem designed to work with this helmet. The goggles come perfectly to the top, leaving almost no gap at all from the visor. The visor also seems to blend right into my googles as they are of a larger proportion. I suppose if you had smaller googles, those might look odd with the visor.CONS:I have very few cons about this helmet. I would probably rate it a 4.5 out of 5, but we can only do whole ratings, and I don't believe the cons would mark it down to a 4, so I went with a 5.- After wearing for a long day, I sometimes found that the band that is tightened from behind would put pressure on the top of my inner ear (the area where sunglasses would rest). I was able to use some of the velcro within the helmet to keep these hard edges away for awhile, but sometimes they still pop out and begin to hurt.- Also with the head tightening band, I found that sometimes turning my head sharply would cause my jacket to put stress on the spinner and slightly loosen my helmet. This was a pretty rare occasion though and something I can deal with. All in all, I really love this helmet along with the bluetooth audio from Outdoor Tech and cannot wait until next season to be able to test some more crash session on this beast!

Snug, comfortable fit!
I took the earpads off (easy) and use it for summer paragliding (bought it because of the numerous vents). The fit is so comfortable and secure. The interior (which is removable and washable) absorbs sweat and then keeps your head reasonably cool (though on a hot day *all* helmets are hot, including this one). Overall I really like it!

Closeable vents make this ideal for a wide range of temperatures - be aware that head shape affects fit
I'm very happy with this helmet, despite some sizing problems. But before I get into that, let me review why I'm giving this helmet 5 stars:-It's the lightest helmet Smith makes, and lighter that most other brands as well. Not substantially lighter, but every gram counts.-I has 2 sets of adjustable vents in the front and middle of helmet-It's among the warmest helmets available with the vents closed-It's among the coolest helmets available with the vents open-The ear flaps have zipper that can hold Outdoor Tech OT0032 - Bluetooth Wireless Helmet Audio System or Outdoor Tech OT0042 Wired - Universal Helmet Audio System (Black) -The BOA strap is easy to adjustA note on the size: I measured my head a 62 cm diameter, which means that a size large should be the perfect fit. I ordered that size and the diameter of the adjustable BOA strap was a least a couple of centimeters larger than my head, so I tightened it down and it seemed to fit fine. But is started to become uncomfortable on my forehead. I took it off and it left a noticeable red mark. The reason: although my head is 62 cm, it's not the right shape of 62 cm. It's a little less wide and longer front-to-back than the shape of the Smith helmet. Ordered a size XL, and that solved the problem. The reason I'm not knocking a star off the review for the tight fit is because I had the exact same fit problem with a Giro helmet. The helmets seem to be designed for an average head shape, and mine is not average. For people with the opposite head shape of mine (rounder), please note that Smith offers Asian fit helmets (sunglasses and goggles as well.) Here's the description from their website: "The Smith Vantage “Asian Fit” takes the ski helmet and modifies the shape to provide improved fit, comfort, and performance for rounder head shapes."

Did not come with MIPS as indicated in the product description
As indicated, the helmet did not come with MIPS as indicated in the product description. The fit is a touch small. My head is 57.5cm and the Medium fits but not by much.

Great quality but runs small
Seems high quality. Agree with other reviewers on the sizing. My head measured 58 and this barely fit in a large on the largest setting. If your head is bigger than 58 you are going to need aSize up from large. Great helmet though

Great Fit
My head measures 57 cm and is very round. I had the basic Smith Optics Holt size M helmet before and it worked well enough. It was cheap and fit was okay enough. I always felt like the sides of my head were squeezed right around the ears and temples but not enough to bother me even when wearing all day. When it was time to upgrade, I looked at the Variance vs the Vantage. I tried on the Variance (size M) in store and it was way too tight on the sides of my head. The Vantage (size M) fits perfectly and is well padded. Other helmets had room back and front but the sides were squished. With the vantage, however, I was able to tighten to get the front and back to fit well without putting a lot of pressure on the sides of my head. Helmet works well with both my Smith Virtue and Spy Doom goggles.

Good quality - runs small
Great helmet but will be sending it back due to size. Helmet runs extremely small.

Nice helmet. Fits way too small.
The helmet is very nice, light enough, and the ventilation is great.I wear a medium in every bike helmet I've ever had, but this medium was WAY too small. Unwearable.I also tried a large, and it was also too small front to back. Seems these just don't fit my head. Now that I have tried many ski helmets, I seem to need a large in any brand.
