Stay away!This movie is trash in comparison to the original.Another abysmal American remake of a foreign masterpiece.

As usual, rewriting the story, rewriting the ending, the cast mostly similar but this version hired mostly fashion models with no acting ability. Also typical, almost all of the realistic violence, trauma and psycho-emotional drama is cut out with only the sanitized, sterilized, family-friendly violence and cheap melodrama Americans have come to produce as the new standard was all that was left over in this mall-shopping production of a powerful and visceral French film. Do yourself a favor and seek out the French original, it is available here on Prime Video as well.

I found this to be superior to the 2009 French version. The story is modified so that the motive behind the tortures is explained in greater depth. The horrific nature of the tortures and the human suffering are depicted without being gratuitous. All things considered, the movie is extremely well done. Kudos to the two lead actresses.

Completely insulting to sit through, not only because of how poorly it represents the bleak, intense nature of the original, but because it looks like a lifetime movie network film, and is so held back that i wouldn’t be surprised if it were pg-13. Watch this if you like a film to hold your hand and give you a nice happy ending, otherwise watch the original which is a horror masterpiece.

The original French version is a masterpiece. This bad US remake is pretty much unwatchable.

It was unbelievable, and the acting was so terrible I stopped about halfway through. I don't understand the fake crying, at lease pour water on her face to make it look like she's actually crying... Do something?? The Original was much better and this one is so uncomfortably awkward in its portrayal of suffering -- which, again, to convey the true meaning of this movie ... one has to believe there's actually suffering.But making an ugly crying face doesn't convince anyone. For those who haven't seen the original, please go watch it. Don't waste your time with this one.

I watched the original about a week or so ago and found it to be a very well put together film. That said, this remake comes nowhere near doing it justice. I'd advise against watching it whether you've seen the original or not. The acting is subpar. The suspense that made the original so great was all but nonexistent. A few major plot points were significantly altered from the first. I understand and can appreciate attempting to do so as a filmmaker in the name of originality, but it greatly detracts from the storyline that worked so well in the first. Hard pass.

This movie was good, dont get me wrong. But if you looooove gross, crazy movies then ALWAYS go for the original foreign version! They dont have the same rating systems overseas, so they can get away with WAY crazier stuff & the french version of Martyrs is no exception. THAT movie a 10 star movie!!!!! This version is 3 stars.

It's ok if you haven't seen the original, but if you have then seriously don't waste your time on this. The original is far superior.. actually one of my all time favorite movies, this in comparison was a huge disappointment
