Excellent light, but the video they provide is slightly deceptive
This light is great, has very bright white light and fairly dim colored lights, and is easy to install. A few notes:1) Someone mentioned that the light is so dim they couldn't even read by it. I guarantee they're just using the backlighting rather than the light itself. The app that's required to operate the whole thing isn't very good, so you need to poke around a bit to see how to work it.2) You NEED a smart phone to operate this, and it requires both bluetooth and wifi to set up. It's a pretty terrible system from a user experience perspective, but not difficult if you follow directions.3) It's indeed very easy to install, but in my older house with a textured ceiling, I had to cut away part of the area around my ceiling electrical box with a utility knife for the mount to sit flush, and then allow the light to hang about 1/8 inch *away* from flush with the ceiling due to the texture. It was still easy, but made a bit of a mess.4) In the manufacturer's video, both the light AND the backlight change color from purple to blue, etc. THIS IS NOT THE CASE, and is the reason I've deducted a star (despite other warnings in the description). The backlight is colored; the main, downward-facing part of the light is ONLY white. Both parts CANNOT be used at the same time (and that would be pointless anyway, since the backlight is fairly dim). Ideally Amazon would make them take down the fake video and replace it with something honest, but that's not going to happen.Overall, the colored backlighting works great in a very dark room, and main light is very bright if you want it to be, and very dim if you want that. Being able to change the white color temperature is pretty great.

My light bill went from $120/month to $49 and THEY ARE FABULOUS!!!
The media could not be loaded. THESE ARE TOTALLY FABULOUS!!! I bought five of them: one for each front and back porch abd front porch, three for my great room (living room/kitchen combo). First of all 100% brightness looks like an operating room, and 10% is enough to see fine, although I would pick somewhere in the middle. The 4-watt color backing looks GREAT. They can be set to any color. On Autism awareness day, I put them to all blue, for instant, but all five could be a different color. Here's a tip: Go to the effect, "Dazzling" on the scene panel (the other two selections are white and color) part, hit edit. Add all the available colors by hitting the plus button and choose up to all 8 available, there's a further slide bar that controls speed on the bottom. Slide all the way to the right. IT IS THE MOST AMAZING LIGHT SHOW THAT 'DAZZLES' EVERY VISITOR I HAVE!! Play with the settings and find one you love. I wouldn't have figured it out, but the neighbor came over and he is an artist and he came up with it. I am going to look for other combos, and I'm sure there's so many I haven't even thought of with my current fave "Go-To" look. I have two other units in the bedroom that are LED that I bought at Lowe's, but there are no where as cool as these, and I regret not getting these for there. However, I started with those rooms as both my EL CHEAPO construction bargain basement LED fixtures burned out. So 2 of 7 were burned out, and I had to replace them quickly. But even though not as cool as these, and that the ones from Lowe's in the bedroom are motion sensitive and can be annoying, I figured one of the remaining five were going to burn out any day, so I should get similar, dimming LED lights for the other rooms. But if not for the initial purchase, I would not have realized how cool LED dimming lights were in your home. I saw these as Amazon's Choice, and I have NEVER gone wrong with Amazon's Choice. When these went in, they were vastly superior to the initial LED's for the bedrooms. I simply didn't want the option of motion sensing in other rooms, so I got these and they are beyond expectations. My light bill PLUMMETED from $120 to $49, which is at 59.17 PERCENT CHANGE (I am a math teacher). I could go on and on, but take my word for it, they are great. As if I had any complaint, one of the five, a small strip of red along the circle doesn't work, and it is blank when the color is red, and absent during the 'dazzling' display. But instead of going through the rigamarole of taking it down and shipping it back, I figured I was so elated with the overall purchase, and it was so minor, I am just living with it. Even the most perfect-seeming thing can have one flaw! So, I am 99.9999999999 % satisfied! I highly, highly, highly recommend theses. I control them with an Android and an iPhone, and I just bought the newest Alexa Show, two of them actually, to control my Ring doorbell and the new outdoor and indoor Blink security cameras I just ordered. Those, and the new Firestick I bought control the lights by voice. I bet my old Firestick does too, I just never tried that. I don't know if I can leave a follow-up message, but if so, I promise to tell Amazon-land how that worked out for me. So I say do not dealy. Add these to your cart today. I buy on Amazon almost each day, and one day I got so many UPS boxes I told my super-nice UPS driver, "Don't smoke pot then Amazon!" (It's legal here, but just a joke!) But anyway, Greetings from Seaside Heights, New Jersey, The Town That Fun Built!

Easy to install and setup!!!
I love this light, it sets the mood for my room and I love the smart features with it, I myself had replaced it with my ceiling fan because I didn’t like it and it’s looks so much better and I really wasn’t looking for something like this into I ran into it & though it was cool, So I picked it up and less 30, took the fan off and installed the light and EASY SETUP. Highly recommend.

Wonderful light
I love this light very easy install!! Connecting to the app is simple. I love the options for different lighting depending on what I am doing. I have it in my office and have scheduled it to go off to remind me to leave the office. I use the bright white option when working and go with the more yellow option when I am off work hours gives the office a completely different feel

Perfect lights for our creativity space
What a perfect fit for our art space. I love how bright these lights get to help me see while sewing and drawing. The dimmers work great to change the lighting and make the light lower and warmer while practicing yoga. Added bonus is the color feature for jamming. I am so happy they are everything we wanted all in one. They were easy to install. It took me longer to take the old fixtures down than it did to put the new ones up. I would suggest if you have trouble with technology I would suggest watching YouTube videos. It is relatively straightforward but I had to double check myself when selecting the device.

Easy install and bright!
My guest bedroom closet had a pull string switch for a light. It finally broke. I saw this light on Amazon and figured I'd give it a try. It has blown my expectations. Not only was it easy to install and set up, it's very bright.I installed this today and will continue to monitor how it works over this next month. If it continues to work well I will order another one for another closet.

Issues with Wifi N devices which is a major pain.
Ok, installing it was pretty easy but I was missing the included wago connectors which was annoying. The issue I had was the manual is very light on the issue with wifi 2.4GHz N. This issue isn't explained very well and can lead to you just giving up on the product and returning it.Taloya don't make the built in Wifi unit, that it's made by Tuya and is based on the ESP8266. There's an issue with Linksys 3200 & 32X Wifi Routers and ESP8266 based devices. This issue is the Marvel firmware drivers included with the router have a slight issue with WMM which is a part of the wifi N standard. To make it worse to use Wifi N with some devices WMM has to be enabled. If Wifi N is enabled on the router you won't get the Taloya light to connect to the router, this means you're either stuck with 54mbit speeds on 2.4GHz or have to make a Virtual access point with the WMM option disabled.I ended up just using another Wifi router as an AP to connect it. Works fine but this really should be explained in the manual as these routers are quite popular.Hope this helps anyone with similar issues.

Broke after just a few months of use
Was really happy about the purchase when it worked! But one day it just went off for no reason and couldn't even be controlled with a physical button as a regular ceiling light. Currently waiting for post-sale support. Will update their responses here so everyone knows what to expect when considering to purchase this.

Pretty good, but not perfect
Installing this light fixture was both easy and hard. The easy part was installing the small ring that you attach to your junction box. The hard part was connecting the wires while balancing the light on my shoulder and standing on a stepstool. It's very easy to mount the light onto the small ring once you've got the wires connected. Just know that the middle part might be tricky without a second pair of hands. At first, I couldn't get the light to connect to the Smart Life app, which was quite frustrating. When I finally did manage it, I found that the app is reasonable, but I wouldn't want to go into it regularly to turn the light on and off. That's where Google Assistant is supposed to come in.Unfortunately, Google Assistant doesn't work as well as it should. When I initially connected it, I was able to say, "hey Google, activate SCENE" to activate one of the customizable scenes. But that quickly stopped working, and I don't know why. Google refuses to respond to it now, which severely limits the voice control. You can set it to a specific colour, but I want to have one of the scenes continuously roll through colours when the light is off. I can do that, I just can't turn it on/off with Google Assistant. The workaround is to use IFTTT, but that's also a challenge. The Smart Life app/service appears to connect to IFTTT, but it won't find your device or your scenes. The workaround here is to use a version of the app published by Brilliant, because their service does work with IFTTT. And even then, you're limited to three IFTTT recipes unless you upgrade to a paid account. And I don't care enough to do that.An important thing to note is that the light retains its settings if you turn it off with a light switch. So if you want to use it in combination with a regular switch (or a smart light switch), you can do that.I like the low profile of the light on the ceiling, and it's minimalist design. The output of the white light is solid, and I really like having the RGB lights cycle in the evenings. I'm tempted to flash it with Tasmota firmware to improve its integration with my home automation, but I'll give some more thought before going down that road.

Very hard to connect not like other SmartLife Devices
Update: The seller has contacted me and explained that perhaps I have too many devices on a 2.4mhz network, and that's why the light is slow. They worked on my resolving the issue to the point of offering a new light. I guess for the price even if you just get a white light with and off switch it's already a good deal. The light is plenty bright, the RGB is only on the back, and you can't run both together. The main issue is the connectivity. I have tons of LifeSmart devices, including a few ceiling lights. It never took me so long to connect it.It only works on 2.4 GHz. My other devices could quickly find it, but not this one. Even though the App saw the device immediately, it wouldn't connect. What finally worked for an iPhone:-Turning off 5ghz network-Forgetting the network on my phone-Turning off the phone-Restarting-Reconnecting-Validating through the Router that the phone connected to 2.4ghz-Resetting the device, so it blinks rapidly-Then, I finally could add itThe device is like few meters away from a router, and I have drywall. Yet, it is sometimes prolonged to react to the app and becomes unresponsive.I have a similar light downstairs: literary has zero of these issues.
