Great plant light, but bulbs seem unreliable
I bought the first bulb in 2019. I use it from November to May for my ficus tree that spends the summer outside. I really like the bulb for its brightness and the 5000k rating. My ficus loves it also. This year I thought I would buy 2 more of these bulbs for more of my plants. Of the two bulbs, one worked and one was dead on arrival. I returned the dead one and asked for a replacement, but that one was also dead. Both of the dead bulbs had a slight rattling sound, so maybe they were not handled properly. So that's 2 good bulbs and 2 dead bulbs out of 4. Not good. But if you can get one that works they are very nice bulbs and they are great for plants.

Great for plants as a growlight, but a bit big for a 8.5 inch dome
I ordered an Agrobrite bulb, but one of them failed very quickly, so I ordered this one to compare. The plants are all leaning strongly towards the Satco bulb even though the area I'm keeping the plants gets very little sunlight. They all prefer this bulb over the other one.I'd also tried before LED lights, but the plants didn't respond to those lights at all. They all died on me. Most of those lights ended up in the trash. I also placed them sometimes 2 inches from the plant and the plants still didn't respond. So of all of the types of lights I've tried, this light seems to do the best for my variety of plants. For reference my list of plants are:- Cuban oregano- Jade plant (2 varieties)- Spineless Prickly Pear plants- Hirt's Palm- Jacaranda (of which seeds I collected)- aloe vera (1 month under the satco bulb)- Pineapple plant (Sprouted from Pineapple top)- scallions- chocolate mint (reviving, actually under the new lighting)- Korean chives (reviving after a year of dying.)(Satco Bulb is on the right of the photo and agrobrite on the left of the photo. The variegated plant in the back middle is the Cuban Oregano. The jade plant is also tilting towards the Satco bulb.)The Cuban Oregano (which is technically not oregano or related to mint) is strongly leaning towards the Satco bulb though it's in the middle of the two lights. It's also growing a lot faster than before. The only downside to the bulb is that it doesn't fit into the dome neatly and I can't seem to find one large enough for it. But my plants are thriving otherwise.

Very bright CFL
Very bright CFL. The bulb uses about 37 watts after warming up. I have been using the first one I bought over a year ago in my bathroom and it works just as well now as the day I put it in my light fixture. Note that most light fixture covers will not fit over the bulb, it is twice the size of a regular 23 watt CFL.UPDATE 3/3/2020: These last about a year at 12-16 hours a day continuous use and about a year and a half in a bathroom where it is turned off and on several times a day (I have two in service at any one time and always keep a replacement around). I am happy, I don't have to replace my light fixtures with 200 watt rated fixtures to use an incandescent and I can see even with my very poor vision that is even poorer in moderate light or darkness. The savings on my electric bill are a bonus, together the two of these bulbs I have in service might save $40-$50 a year -- not a big deal but that is extra money in my bank account. In 2005 when I replaced all of my incandescents with CFL (100 watt incandescents with 23 watt CFLs except in my office and bathroom where I replaced with brighter CFLs) my electric bill decreased by about $10 per month. Some have been replaced with LED bulbs now but the difference in power draw is small enough that I didn't notice any further change in my electric bill.

These bulbs are very nice. The color temperature I got was 5000K and it was spot on, with nice and even lighting. I searched locally (Lowes, Home Depot, etc.) and no one had the higher wattage CFL that's not "soft white," so Amazon was my goto place Keep in mind that these bulbs are quite a bit larger (longer) than a standard CFL bulb. This is the 40 watt version which has the output of 150 watt incandescent bulb and it's plenty bright to light up my breakfast dining area. I purchased bulbs from another vendor that was supposed to be 5000K but ended with a 6500K bulb, which is way too "cool" or blue, for my liking.

Highly recommended and very bright!
This lightbulb works great in my two car garage and itโs so much brighter than standard bulbs. I had tried to use LED lightbulbs but turns out that they can interfere with the garage door opener (opener only worked intermittentlyโ FYI, I had to replace the LED bulbs in the ceiling light and the ones in the opener as well) so I found this one and it works great and is very bright. When the garage is very cold it takes a couple of minutes to reach full brightness but thatโs common for this type of bulb.

A very bright bulb
I like the price and the fact that the bulb puts out a lot of light for a reasonable size.

Highly Recommended
I actually ordered these for a bedroom (I happen to not like warm lights that run on the amber shade of the spectrum) and I love it. The lamps I have have tall shades so there is no problem with this tall and bright bulb!

Excellent 40W bulb for my smaller front door light fixture
- I have an open, smaller front door light fixture and I wanted the most powerful spiral bulb available. This 40W fits perfectly and only sticks out the bottom a little bit. During the Spring and Summer, its on maybe 6 hours every 24. During the Fall and Winter its on 13 hours every 24.- Since our light fixture is bottom open, the heat will somewhat escape. Less heat = lasts longer.- The life expectancy is rated for 10,000 hours.- I've had spiral bulbs for a long time now and being realistic, they never last as long as they're rated. They are mass produced and not hand made.- I expect my 40W spiral bulbs to last maybe 5000+ hours before they die.- When they start to die, they suddenly start flickering, and then soon afterwards, that day, they die.- Not cheap but not expensive.- Will buy again.

Good light
Works good, using them to supplement my LED grow light. A little on the pricey side if you ask me but it gives out some good light, got some decent buds. Got those bad boys in a jar curing right now

Definitely do not look like 150w
These say 40w (150w equivalent) but they do not look like 150w at all. Maybe 60w. I kept them because I can use them for other things but can't recommend them if you are looking for high wattage.

Outstanding value. Bought these for a special application my father-in-law had in his home and they work perfectly. He needed a lot of light in a dual lamp ceiling box, and needed to keep heat down. CFL's burn a lot cooler than incandescent, so score one in that dept. Light? Score 2/2 because these suckers are bright!
