I recommend wrapping a zip tie around the handle to keep ...
The Gilmour Foamaster II is no foam lance, but an affordable alternative that shall allow for an individual to hopefully speed up the car washing process. I won't get into the results this sprayer is capable of, as its irrelevant information. The end product (the clean car) matters more on the persons attention to detail and products and methods used.First impressions the handle is more or less a conventional harden hose sprayer, covered in a plastic handle that threatens to split in half if it were to drop on to the driveway. I recommend wrapping a zip tie around the handle to keep the halves from splitting apart... The handle then has a sprayer with a retaining ring that allows the canister and nozzle to quickly attach and detach. Personally, I frequently am removing the nozzle from the handle and spray down my car with the less restrictive nozzle. This retaining ring also more importantly allows the canister to rotate freely. The sprayer is very simple to use and doesn't require much thinking. I fill the canister with my choice of car wash soap, no need to mix water as the sprayer automatically mixes the water depending on how the dial is set at the top. The settings range from no mix, light, and to "heavy" foam, as stated before this won't give you the best results like a foam lance or cannon, but it works. My process:- rinse car with water- hit it with a heavy foam layer- let sit for 10 minutes ( not in direct sun)- rinse with water- shoot again with heavy foam layer- while waiting for foam to sit i attack my rims and exhaustOnce that is complete I then run around my car in sections hitting areas specifically with foam and a wash mitt. I always rinse it off in a clean bucket with grit guard. I have 2 mitts; 1 for the upper portion of my car, and another for the lower panels (more dirty, grimy areas).- Rinse off the car one last time- Dry off- WaxYou should have a decent looking car after you're done in less time than it usually takes performing the 2 bucket method. I would recommend this product, its not perfect, nor feels like a high quality product necessarily, but it performs reasonably well for the price.

12 years Later it finally died - Solid
Wow this foam gun definitely gave me my money's worth. I purchased this way back in college 12 years ago and would use it on my truck, which I actually still have, and used this thing off and on for that entire time. There was about a 5-year span when I was renting before I bought my home where I did not use this. But prior to that I always used it and finally broke it out at my new house the other day. This thing was used nearly weekly for years as I'm big on detailing my vehicles. While it's still works, the spraying is a bit leaky, but after over a decade it's hard to have any complaints. Overall I'd say I am very pleased with my purchase from back in my younger days. Nothing really broke on the unit over this time, it really just must have broke down internally causing the water to spray outside of the fittings.

Tips for a better foam gun experience!
This foam gun is a good alternative to a loud, expensive pressure washer/foam cannon duo. However, to get a ton of suds, you might end up using a ton of soap. Plus, there's the annoying (and potentially dangerous to the paint) issue of the black nozzle flying off. I have a permanent fix for that though! Not enough suds/runny suds?:Keep in mind that a foam gun simply doesn't have the power to make suds stick to the paint like glue. If you're looking to snow foam your car, your best bet is to invest in a gas powered pressure washer and the MTM foam cannon. If you're simply looking for a more bubbly experience with less milky consistency, experiment with cheap car soaps and keep the foam gun dial on E. I recommend Meguiar's Deep Crystal soap. Pour it into the jug without dilution and have fun! Meguiar's Gold Class doesn't foam up for me nearly as much, plus it's about twice the price as Deep Crystal. One 64oz bottle lasts me about 6-7 washes in the foam gun.Another option I've recently tried is Chemical Guys Honeydew Snow Foam soap, which produces the same amount of suds when diluted. I'd imagine using it straight will be even better, but it's too expensive to use up in a few washes in my opinion. When diluted, my 16oz bottle has lasted 5 washes so far, with 70% remaining.Nozzle keeps shooting off?:I've shot my poor car twice with this gun. The nozzle has a tendency to fly off like a rocket at random, and can potentially harm the paint. But there's a very easy fix for this: Gorilla Glue. Simply spray a little water onto the end of the nozzle and inside the orange housing, put a good dab of Gorilla Glue onto each side of the nozzle and re-attach it to the housing. Then, firmly secure it for about 24 hours. I did this a year ago and haven't shot my car since. If you've been having these issues with your foam gun, I hope my little tips could help you have a better time with yours!
