Front Line Harbour: A History of the Port of Dover

An interesting book that contains a lot of interesting photos and lots of facts about the port of Dover. The book left me wanting more information than it had provided, this is not a criticism of the author and is probably due to the size limits of the book. Perhaps this is what a good non-fiction book on a general topic should do, wet your appetite for more specific research into the items that you find particularly fascinating. Dover Harbour seems quite a small subject area until you actually read this book and then you realise how wide the subject can be.The addition of a good index would benefit the book and I am surprised there wasn't one however I still consider the money well spent. However much I love my kindle holding and reading a book like this is something an e-reader can never replace.

Yet to read this book - but having disrupted the world by being born in Dover at an early age - a skim through it's pages tells me that this will be one of the finest books for me to absorb about the town of my origins.

A fantastic history with lots of pics. worth every penny!! It provided information that I had not seen elsewhere. I have read it again and again

As a person interested in the history of Dover I enjoyed reading this book.Good photographs included in the book.
