Great reading material - for coaching soccer and mental health

This book is gold for any coach wanting to get better at helping their players get better.
Regardless of what sport you coach, this is a must read. If you enjoy learning theory, or if you just want to get better at helping your athletes get better, Lemov provides practical insight on how to sharpen your behavior to create a powerful learning environment. As a soccer coach, this book is clear and direct in its examples, since many of them come from my sport of choice, but the application is accessible and relatable across disciplines. It’s not a fast read. I always labor more with books that have fewer and longer chapters, but I took more notes on chapters 1 and 2 than I did in my last 10 coaching books combined.5 stars

Tiny print - but packed with great info
Just arrived today. Was disappointed to see how tiny the print is. Looks like they tried to jam as much text onto each page to save money on paper. It will take some time to read this. Eyes will get tired fast trying to read.Updated: about 2/3 through this book. For any who want to become better coaches, this is a must read. Packed with practical analysis and solutions for so many everyday opportunities to teach. I find myself reading and thinking about how on point the advice is and how to use it.

Brilliant Book
This book should probably be the first one coaches buy and read. Mr. Lemov is already earned a well deserved rep as an established researcher into what makes a good teacher which is why I own Practice Perfect and Teach Like a Champion. But now he puts that information more into the perspective of a coach. It also dovetails well with information presented in Football Coaching Theory by Raymond Verheijen (with some important differences) and the Playmakers Advantage. Unlike the Teach like a Champion earlier addition (not sure about the upcoming 3.0), there is a website with video references to his examples rather than a CD. I've already swallowed the What of the Kool-Aid years ago, this definitely helps crystalize the How.

Great content; tiny print; dense read
This book is chock-full of incredibly good, evidence-based insights on coaching from the perspective of an education expert. As a coach, I found it to be a tremendously valuable resource. However, I also found it to be a dense and slightly taxing read, requiring frequent pauses to really process everything being presented. This was made worse by the microscopic font size. I'm a middle-aged guy with good up-close vision, and I could only read this book under full lighting, which made me feel like I was back in school studying from an encyclopedic textbook. Content-wise, this book will likely feel most applicable to coaches of team-based invasion sports (with soccer often being the model sport), although there are certainly other applications. While much of the material is applicable to all levels/ages, I would say that this resource will probably feel most relevant to coaches of more advanced teams/athletes. Overall, I would strongly recommend this book to team sport coaches who are looking to move beyond the basics and invest themselves in a coaching style that incorporates emerging best practices in education. For the author/publisher: I would strongly suggest an updated edition with larger font and even more visual aids to complement and break up the text. Such modifications would transform the book from 'great' to 'outstanding.'

Elevate Your Coaching with 'The Coach's Guide': A Must-Read!
I recently ordered "The Coach's Guide to Teaching" and I must say that it has been an incredible resource for me as a coach. This book is packed with valuable insights that have really helped me improve as a coach. One of the things I love about this book is the clear description of patterns of action one follows. It's not just a bunch of vague theories or ideas - the author really goes into detail about what works and what doesn't.Also, the book is full of practical examples, from well-known and not so well-known coaches. I found myself going back to certain scenarios and strategies from the book over and over again when working with my athletes.Overall, I would recommend "The Coach's Guide to Teaching" to anyone who is serious about coaching in sport. Whether you are just starting out or have been coaching for years, this book is sure to provide you with a wealth of valuable insights that you can put into practice. It is definitely a 5-star product in my eyes!

Interesting book
I certainly didn’t agree with everything that was written but that only made me reflect more on my beliefs. Some terrific information delivered. I did like the Chapter on feedback. I feel it has made me a better Coach and that was why I bought it.
